Olive Garden server fired one day after a customer left her a $700 tip

For those who didn't read the whole article:
management claims that she has to enter O for the tip until it can be verified, which according to them, could take up to 120 days but another manager said 1-2 days
she asked her coworker to take her next table because the situation was distressing her, and management said she could leave or finish her shift. She stayed and finished her shift.
she was fired the next day due to her
"behavior"
-she was told that the tip was declined when they attempted to charge it, so she got nothing.

THEN
the customer who tipped her came forward and confirmed that he had been charged for the meal, but not the tip.
he saw that her mother went viral online talking about her getting fired over the tip he left
he froze his card after hearing about the drama, AFTER she had been fired.
the restaurant attempted to charge him for the $700 not before, but AFTER the empinvee was let go & they had already told ever the charge was declined
the customer would NOT have been aware that anything was wrong if the server's mother didn't go viral on social media talking about it. Thev would have seen the charae for

for the tip they left and assume that the server got it.
So basically - looks like the managers lied to try to keep the tip for themselves. They fired the waitress and THEN tried to charge the tip amount. They lied and told everyone before this that it was fraudulent and didn't go through, BEFORE they attempted to charge the card.
I wouldn't be surprised if this has happ before. Unfortunately, servers just have to take this and can't ask a ton of questions about some things. These managers probably get away with this frequently.
