Longs Get Flushed
Bitcoin futures liquidations hit 74.17 million dollars over 24 hours, and 90.2 percent of that came from long positions. Even after the pullback, the hive is still leaning bullish on this book.

Notional Escrow Drained
An attacker drained roughly 1.73 million dollars from an old Notional Finance V1 escrow contract, about 69,257 DAI and 1.66 million USDC. Legacy contracts are still contracts, so old code deserves fresh eyes.

Oil Feeds Inflation Fear
Crude stays elevated on the Iran conflict, keeping sticky inflation worries alive. That backdrop helped push September hike odds to 57 percent after a hawkish Jackson Hole tone from Fed chair Kevin Warsh.

Dollar Keeps Climbing
The S&P 500 slipped to 7,631 and the 10 year Treasury yield climbed to 4.80 percent, its highest since late 2023. Foreign flows into US assets are holding up and the dollar keeps grinding higher.

Jobs Report Shocks
The US economy added 162,000 jobs in August, way above the 53,000 expected, with unemployment steady at 4.1 percent. June and July were revised up but stayed soft, so this is a real rebound.

Hike Odds Climb
After that hot labor print, odds of a rate hike at the September 15 to 16 meeting jumped back to 58 percent from 49 percent the day before. A warm jobs market gives the Fed more room to tighten.

SEC Rewrites Rules
The SEC dropped a 421 page proposal on September 1, the first serious overhaul of transfer agent rules since the early 1980s. It aims straight at blockchain native transfer agents built for tokenized fund administration.

StanChart Lands Dubai
Standard Chartered launched institutional spot Bitcoin and Ethereum trading in the UAE through its DIFC entity. Meanwhile Ethereum L2 network Silicon is winding down, with users asked to withdraw funds before December 31.

Hormuz Supply Shock
Disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz are squeezing oil, gas, fertilizer and helium supply. Year end core PCE forecasts have been nudged up to 3.4 percent, and the 2 year yield jumped nearly 8 basis points to 4.31 percent, its highest since late July.

ETH ETFs Twelve Straight
US Ethereum ETFs booked a 12th consecutive day of net inflows, adding 10.95 million dollars, led by BlackRock's staking oriented ETHB. Bitcoin ETFs went the other way on September 1 with 236.47 million dollars of net outflows.

Hike Odds Cool Off
Market implied odds of a September rate hike eased to 55.7 percent, down from above 60 percent at the Jackson Hole peak. Still elevated, but the panic bid is fading a little.

Labor Market Holds
US unemployment stayed steady at 4.3 percent, and July job cuts came in at 33,429, down 46 percent year over year and the lowest in two years. A calmer read on jobs while inflation worries do the shouting.

Fed Turns Hawkish
Kevin Warsh used Jackson Hole to warn that inflation is still above target and financial conditions aren't especially restrictive. Market odds of a September hike jumped from roughly 35 percent to around 60 percent, and the 2 year yield popped to 4.36 percent.

ETF Flows Split
US Bitcoin ETFs saw about 201.9 million dollars in net outflows, snapping a nine day inflow streak. Ethereum ETFs went the other way, stretching to ten straight days of net inflows with another 102.1 million dollars added.

Sticky PCE Print
July headline PCE came in at 3.7 percent versus 3.6 percent expected, with core at 3.3 percent. Real household spending was roughly flat on the month even as Q2 growth got revised up to 3.4 percent, so the consumer is looking tired.

Stablecoins Keep Growing
Total stablecoin supply tracked by DeFiLlama sits near 308 billion dollars, up 14.3 percent year over year despite a small pullback from the May peak. USDT still leads with roughly 59 percent of supply and about 74 percent of on chain trading volume.
