just in case no one tells you today…..you’re worth having around. you’re worth committing to. you’re worth appreciating. you’re worth loving… you're worth reassuring. you're worth risking it all for. you're worth everything...
People have way more respect for business and other relationship dynamics than they do for romance .. Your boss tells you you’re fuckin up, you get it together .. Your partner tells you you’re fuckin up, that starts an argument and a bunch of “love me for me” nonsense lol
That hits deep because it’s so true. It’s like your mind has rewired itself to equate loneliness with safety. When you’ve been let down time and time again by the people who were supposed to care for you, being alone stops feeling like loneliness—it becomes your fortress, the one place where you’re in control and no one else can hurt you. You get so used to depending solely on yourself that anything else feels risky, like trusting someone again is just an invitation for more pain.
Growing up in chaos, where love was inconsistent or toxic, leaves its mark. You learn, sometimes subconsciously, that the only reliable person in your life is you. So you withdraw, not out of a lack of desire for connection, but because that’s where you feel the most secure—where no one can pull the rug out from under you. It’s a trauma response, but it’s also a testament to your resilience: you’ve built a sanctuary within yourself, and even if it feels isolating, it’s also where you’ve survived.
The challenge is realizing that while this solitude might keep you safe, it also keeps you from experiencing the depth of connection you deserve. It’s not easy, and it takes time to trust that someone might show up for you and stay. But just acknowledging this is a huge step—recognizing that this self-imposed loneliness was a way to protect yourself, and maybe, just maybe, it’s time to slowly open the door and let others in. You deserve more than just survival—you deserve connection, love, and people who show up, and it’s okay to want that, even if it’s terrifying to reach for.
