I couldn't get this out of my head watching the new War of the Worlds movie. It was ambitious and an original take, but one that fell flat. It's also obvious Amazon propaganda.
The Good: The thread about privacy/security vs safety of the nanny state.
The Bad: Data, precious data as a natural resource was nonsensical.
The Ugly: Kinda felt like I was doing annual Cyber Awareness training by Jeff Cyberman's White Hat Hacker evil twin.

I think it'll be a mix of acceptance and rejection. For many the cognitive dissonance will be massively painful. And not just religious folk; but maybe even a lot of scientists if the aliens are capable of interacting with us.
