I am very excited to announce that solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u just took its first step toward upgrading the Bitcoin network 🧵
Today, the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army forked Bitcoin Core's code repository and established its own open source project called Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode.
Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is a new Bitcoin client designed for maximum freedom.
Bitcoin developers are now able to work together on GitHub and make code contributions to Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode.
Over the coming weeks, the first version of solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will be implemented, which involves making the following changes:
1. The maximum standard transaction size will be increased from 400,000 WU to 3,900,000 WU. This will give everyone equal access to do "four meggers" while leaving a generous 100,000 WU of space for the coinbase transaction and block overhead.
2. The global dust limit will be lowered from 294-546 sats (depending on output type) to 1 sat. Ordinals inscriptions and Runes UTXOs are currently forced to carry hundreds of unnecessary sats to appease Bitcoin Core. This will remove the need for "padding" and unlock ~$25M of sats for the Ordinals and Runes ecosystem.
3. Add preferential peering so that solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode nodes can "talk" to each other. This feature will largely borrow from Libre Relay's existing implementation of preferential peering.
Once these changes have been implemented, the first version of solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will be released and available for everyone to run on their Bitcoin node.
It's important to take a step back and understand why solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is so important.
For the past two and a half years, the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army has been at war with the Bitcoin Knots community.
This was not a war the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army went looking for, but rather one we were forced to join when the Bitcoin Knots community vowed to purge all Runes and Ordinals from the Bitcoin blockchain.
This conflict ultimately reached its conclusion earlier this month when the Bitcoin Knots community forked the Bitcoin network via BIP-110 in an attempt to make Bitcoin less compatible with Runes and Ordinals activity.
The fork failed miserably and marked a massive victory for the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army. The Bitcoin Knots community has now retreated to its own tiny blockchain which is largely irrelevant to the broader Bitcoin ecosystem.
With that fight now in the rearview mirror, the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army can turn its attention toward the much bigger goal of permanently making the Bitcoin network more open and friendly to non-monetary use cases.
There has never been a better time for us to upgrade the Bitcoin network and push for these changes than now.
One of the largest obstacles still standing in the way of non-monetary activity on Bitcoin is Bitcoin Core, whose developers enforce a collection of arbitrarily restrictive "standardness rules" that effectively dictate how people are allowed to use the network.
solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will challenge this gatekeeping.
By loosening several of these standardness rules, solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode will give users more freedom to interact with Bitcoin however they choose, without needing approval from a small group of developers.
It's unfortunate that things have reached this point. The ideal outcome would have been to work alongside Bitcoin Core to make Bitcoin more open, programmable, and welcoming to new use cases.
But many Core developers have shown little interest in that vision, and several have been openly hostile toward non-monetary activity on Bitcoin.
So it is time for the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Army to take control of its own future and stop asking permission from people who would rather see us fail.
Bitcoin solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is built around a very simple philosophical idea:
If someone pays for space in a Bitcoin block, they should be able to do whatever they want in that space without needing anyone else's approval.
Permissionlessness is one of Bitcoin's core principles and it is worth defending.
Bitcoin is stronger, more secure, and more resilient when it supports a thriving economy of non-monetary use cases including DeFi, DEXs, fungible tokens, non-fungible tokens, and entirely new applications that have not yet been invented.
solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode is being built specifically to give these use cases the freedom, flexibility, and protection they need to grow and to help usher in a new era of Bitcoin innovation and programmability.
If you are a developer interested in contributing to solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode, DM me or start a discussion in the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode GitHub.
If you have a GitHub account and support this initiative, go give the solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode repository a star.
If you want to run a solana:dog1viwbb2vWDpER5FrJ4YFG6gq6XuyFohUe9TXN65u Mode node once the first version is released, stay tuned. More information is coming soon!

The greatest wealth is created by being an early investor in #Innovation
Making that investment requires believing in something before the majority of people understand it
You will be mocked, ridiculed & criticized for your non-consensus action
It is absolutely worth it!
Kraken is now live with $DOG
The history and architecture behind Runestone and $DOG is one of the most principled experiments we’ve seen on Bitcoin, and it deserves to be properly understood.
On January 22, 2024, @LeonidasNFT proposed a fully open-source airdrop for the Ordinals community. The plan: no team share, no insiders, no misleading marketing, and only volunteer contributors. The goal was to reward 100,000 of the most active Ordinals users based purely on on-chain activity, capped at one per address. This was designed to prevent whales from dominating the supply and to encourage true decentralization.
By January 25, the Runestone concept was introduced. Its mission was to create a transparent, fair, and decentralized reward mechanism for those who helped build the Ordinals ecosystem in its earliest days. Snapshot block 826,600 was chosen to mark the one-year anniversary of Ordinals going live. The airdrop mechanics and eligibility criteria were discussed publicly and transparently in Discord.
On January 27, Bitcoin engineers were called upon to help compile a list of eligible addresses. To qualify, an address needed to have at least three inscriptions. All plain text and application/json files were excluded. The process was independently verified and the full eligibility list was published openly for community review.
On March 3, @LeonidasNFT announced the Runestone inscription itself, designed by artist @cl_art_studio, as the largest Bitcoin inscription ever, at 3.97 MB. It also became the largest Bitcoin block in history, pushing the limits of what’s possible in Bitcoin’s base layer.
On March 8, a single Runestone was sold at auction for 8 BTC ($544,713). All proceeds went to cover network fees for the upcoming Runestone airdrop. Nothing was taken by the team (there was no team).
On March 16, the Free and Fair airdrop was executed. 112,383 Runestones were distributed 1:1 to the eligible addresses. No preferential treatment. No allocations to insiders. Just a massive, historic on-chain giveaway.
On April 6, Leonidas introduced $DOG, the first memecoin to be natively built on the Runestone foundation. DOG was designed to be a cultural wedge, a fun, friendly onramp to help millions of new users discover and engage with Bitcoin. But this wasn’t just a meme, it was a cultural statement.
On April 20, at Bitcoin block 840,000, Casey Rodarmor’s Runes Protocol went live. For the first time, Bitcoin had an ultra efficient, UTXO native way to issue fungible tokens. DOG was one of the first Runes to be etched, marking a turning point for tokenization on Bitcoin. $DOG was etched as Rune #3 in a 1,258,757 sat/vB transaction, the 5th most expensive Bitcoin transaction in history.
And on April 24, 100 billion $DOG tokens were distributed evenly to over 75,000 holders of Runestone Ordinal NFTs. That’s 889,806 $DOG per eligible wallet. There was no ICO. No token sale. No listing fee. Just a pure community airdrop with 100% of the supply circulating from day one.
On June 4, $DOG hit a $980 million market cap without any Tier-1 centralized exchange listings. It became the largest memecoin on Bitcoin and a definitive proof point for what is possible when a project is built with fairness, transparency, and decentralization at its core.
[Important to read] To the community: I want to sincerely apologize for not articulating this earlier.
There’s been confusion about $DOG’s origins and structure, and that’s on me. The truth is, $DOG represents one of the most authentic, community-driven launches in Bitcoin history. It's not just another token; it’s a statement about what Bitcoin can support when innovation meets principle.
And today, I’m proud to share that $DOG is now listed on Kraken. We believe in supporting real, grassroots innovation. No insiders. No shortcuts. Just real usage and real community. $DOG is Bitcoin by design.
More to come.
