Are Kim Soo-hyun's malicious commenters trembling? ... How far will the punishment go?
Kim Soo hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, is pursuing additional legal action against people who spread false information and post malicious comments online. According to a legal explanation shared by Law Firm Daehan Joongang TV on October 23, punishment depends on the nature, frequency, and number of posts.
Defamation involving false facts is generally treated more seriously than insults or defamation involving factual statements. While many mass lawsuits against malicious commenters end in fines ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of Korean won, repeated and large-scale posting may lead to heavier penalties, including imprisonment in serious cases.
Comments containing sexual remarks or threats may also result in additional charges, such as intimidation, depending on the circumstances. Settlement amounts are commonly around ₩1 million to ₩3 million, but may be substantially higher when the comments are particularly serious or have been posted repeatedly over an extended period. Malicious commenters could face significant legal and financial consequences, especially if their actions involve persistent dissemination of false information.

"Structures Resembling the Kim Gun-mo, Kim Soo-hyun, and Tzyang Cases": 'Predators' Track Down Cyber Wreckers
The Wavve documentary Predators: Cyber Wreckers, A Record of War examines the similar patterns behind controversies involving Kim Gun-mo, Kim Soo hyun, and YouTuber Tzuyang, highlighting how cyber wreckers spread allegations, manipulate public opinion, and potentially profit from other people’s suffering.
According to the production team, suspicions can spread within days, while verifying the facts may take years, causing serious damage to reputations, careers, livelihoods, and families before the truth is established. In Kim Soo hyun’s case, the documentary traces how allegations were created and circulated, how counterarguments and verification efforts followed, and what conclusions were reached through the relevant legal proceedings.
Parts 3 and 4 further explore the monetization of online revelations, alleged extortion, and the struggles of people who fight back against cyber wreckers despite gaps in laws and institutions. The production team also emphasizes that the problem extends beyond individual malicious YouTubers to a media environment that rewards sensational content and rapid views, allowing unverified claims to spread widely. Ultimately, the documentary urges viewers to recognize that clicking, sharing, and spreading unverified content can make them part of the cycle of online harassment and public judgment.

Court Seizes Movable Assets of Garo Sero Research Institute... 'Red Stickers' Placed Throughout Studio
According to legal sources on the 22nd, the Seoul Central District Court executed a seizure warrant on the 20th at the headquarters of Garo Sero Research Institute Co., Ltd. in Gwanak-gu, Seoul. So-called 'red stickers' were affixed to various video equipment, such as cameras, as well as desktop computers, monitors, and laptops owned by Garo Sero Research Institute.
The execution of this seizure warrant was carried out at the request of lawyer Kim So-yeon. Kim Se-ui, the founder of Garo Sero Research Institute who is currently in custody and undergoing a criminal trial on charges including defamation by stating false facts about actor Kim Soo-hyun, owed lawyer Kim approximately 120 million won. After receiving repayment of about 50 million won from Kim's mother, lawyer Kim seized some of Garo Sero Research Institute's assets using the remaining debt.
The place where the seizure warrant was executed this time is the main branch of the Garosero Research Institute on the first basement floor of a building called Ilchulbong at 222-3, Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and it was confirmed that the building is owned by Ms. Seo, the mother of Mr. Kim.
Garo Sero Institute withdrew from its studio in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around the end of July and relocated its headquarters to the building in question. During the execution of the warrant, it was confirmed that Garo Sero Institute was using two rooms on the first basement floor of the building.
Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that Eun Hyun-jang, who runs the YouTube channel 'God of Business,' participated in the execution of the seizure of movable property as a representative and witness for Attorney Kim.
Mr. Eun has been a target of attacks by the Garo Sero Research Institute since 2024. In November of the same year, Mr. Eun purchased 20,000 shares out of the Garo Sero Research Institute's total 40,000 shares and has been fighting with Mr. Kim over management rights of the Garo Sero Research Institute with the goal of "normalizing the Garo Sero Research Institute."
