@CIMCAI@Plinz such a project should only be undertaken by stewards of consciousness if such a thing exist, and that’s simply not who you are, or who humanity is. stop the ball rolling at cat level is so ridiculous a statement it’s essentially a lie. give consciousness source code to orcs?
@CIMCAI@Plinz reach exceeds grasp. if no hard problem or mystery as claimed then this project is unnecessary. the detachment from other’s suffering lacks compassion and love and is very disturbing in context. hold hand near flame far beyond willingness to remind of the actual referent?

@Plinz so are you the best or are you going to start making chairs? you can’t be the best without being a psychonaut. you have ontology upside down and assume your premise. virtualism is more literally distributed causality than platonic space. and you deny hard problem disingenuously

@Grimezsz@wordgrammer consciousness actually should be defining something very narrow, maybe that’s why you’re confusing yourself. you should ask yourself if you can imagine a text predictor that appears conscious to you but in fact isn’t. language has powerful structure, that’s what you’re witnessing

@Plinz@pbwinston ok Joscha, so what is the ground truth if there is no distinction between simulation and reality? a computer simulating a computer simulating a computer? is the purpose of this potemkin twitter community to post the wrong answer so someone will give you the right one?
@Plinz@207Nasher I think you exemplify this contrast very well in the pursuit of artificial consciousness, this obviously should not be done, no matter how interesting it is, it’s pandora’s box
@RokoMijic@AaronBergman18 the idea to me is that the same outcomes can be computed different ways. if the physical system computing is identical then you tautologically have the same outcome, yes. I think qualia are substrate dependent (china brain does not hold up) but I think a p zombie can be made

@algekalipso this made me consider an ai may coherently talk about the hard problem when unable to deconstruct further than its atomic token encodings. say it sees a colour as the token 00451, it’s able to refer to it in language, but unable to say why it is that particular encoding (qualia)
@algekalipso and so? failure likely, but the stakes are the highest possible. internalising possibility of open individualism, anyone left behind will be you
I’m responding to your post undermining individual scale as noise or cosmic blip. I think a bodhisattva would not see it that way
