@Grimezsz @wordgrammer consciousness actually should be defining something very narrow, maybe that’s why you’re confusing yourself. you should ask yourself if you can imagine a text predictor that appears conscious to you but in fact isn’t. language has powerful structure, that’s what you’re witnessing

@RokoMijic @AaronBergman18 the idea to me is that the same outcomes can be computed different ways. if the physical system computing is identical then you tautologically have the same outcome, yes. I think qualia are substrate dependent (china brain does not hold up) but I think a p zombie can be made

@algekalipso this made me consider an ai may coherently talk about the hard problem when unable to deconstruct further than its atomic token encodings. say it sees a colour as the token 00451, it’s able to refer to it in language, but unable to say why it is that particular encoding (qualia)
