He was speaking recently to The Cooligans, where he went on a passionate rant.
“You see Gilberto Mora from Tijuana, they will not sell him for less than 15 million,” Chicharito said.
“With 15 million, you can get a very good player from La Liga to get to Premier League, who’s already established and you already know that he'll give you something.
“Maybe Gilberto - we're not speaking about Gilberto's worth. He can be worth 50 million if you want.
“The problem is, with 15 million, you go to South America and you get two Brazilians for seven, and you get two instead of one.
“They’re maybe not as good as Gilberto, but they're gonna give you something, and you try them because it costs you less.
“So, Gilberto’s chance [to go to Europe] stopped because of the 15 million. So I’m just giving an example, I don't know his situation.
“So there's a lot of things there. I'm not saying that now it's the director's responsibility, it's a country thing.
“If you want your country to do better, we ALL have to improve and be better, all of us.
“The system, whoever leads the system, and then the steps down there. You don't tell the players or to the fans, if you want to call them. So it's a mix of them.
“So now Mexico, like I said, not because I was there. Take me out of the equation in the Russia World Cup. It's the best generation ever in Mexico.
“Not because I was there, because it was the first time that you have almost 15 players internationally, 15!
“And we never reach 20, 30, 40, why? Because a Mexican guy who's working, who's trying to play football at 13 years old and he doesn't have money. How you're gonna go and try to make tryouts?
“Not even in the U.S., you don't have the money to go to tryouts in the U.S. So don't tell me about the players [taking big money deals to stay in Liga MX].
“The players are trying to find a life out of it. Doesn't matter if it's a money life or a passion life, I don't care. Don't judge.
