Officially launching X API Pay-Per-Use
The core of X developers are indie builders, early stage products, startups, and hobbyists
It’s time to open up our X API ecosystem and instill a new wave of next generation X apps
We’re so back. https://t.co/FS66GuIYJD
We're starting up a group XChat for X API and Developer Platform feedback. Doesn't matter if you are a hobbyist or have a large enterprise that is powered by X, we want you to join to help us make the API better https://t.co/OdxkBdfTVV
X API has achieved all time high usage with our new flagship Pay-Per-Use model. 📈
PPU is now the default way to build with X for self serve developers & agents.
As a result, we are unwinding our legacy fixed X API tiers—starting with Basic.
Important update for X API developers:
Legacy Basic plans (monthly & annual) are being deprecated.
All Basic subscribers will be automatically migrated to the new Pay-Per-Use plan after June 1, 2026.

The @xai team has published a full setup guide on how to use the xurl skill, which allows your Hermes Agent to read and write to X on your behalf — posting, searching, pulling bookmarks, managing lists, and more — all through natural language.

Try out X API + Grok with OpenClaw!
Here’s a tutorial video by @AlexFinn who’s been building with X API for over a year now.
Official tutorial coming next week in collaboration with @openclaw team.
OpenClaw + the X API is a match made in heaven
It's an incredible way to stay on top of what's trending in the world, plus even make better content and go viral
In this video I show you how to use OpenClaw to connect to the X API and 2 use cases that will blow your mind:
We've made some key Quality of Life updates for the X Activity API:
- Bulk subscription deletion
- Fetch subscriptions with user auth
- OAuth revocation improvements
- Directional filtering

𝕏 just made a massive update to its API pricing for developers
It is now a pure pay-per-use model with zero minimums
You pay for what you use
The biggest game-changer update is "Owned Reads"
Pulling your own personal data posts, mentions, bookmarks, likes, followers, lists, and more now costs literally just $0.001 per resource
That means you can pull 1,000 resources for exactly $1
If you want to build personal dashboards, analytics, or list management tools, the barrier to entry is basically gone
I built xurl as a quick weekend project a little over a year ago
It started as a simple tool so my team and I could hit the X API faster during development (no OAuth token wrestling)
What’s been really satisfying is watching it grow into a core part of the X developer ecosystem
