@souderico besides waddle got traded for a first round pick which the broncos knew they were picking at, the pats have no idea where the 2028 first will land
@souderico it was very clear he was past his prime then, and i’m pretty sure everyone thought the trade was a fleece for the cardinals. david johnson was very clearly not the player he once was
@souderico if you’re looking for an exact 1:1 replica of the scenario the pats are in right now, it doesn’t exist. if it did, it would’ve been talked about a lot more. the best anyone can do is look at recent wr trades of similar caliber wrs to see what the best package is for the player
@souderico i don’t think anyone at the time or even now views that package as equivalent to a first. david johnson was 3 years removed from his best season, runningbacks age much faster than most positions, and he was already 28.
@souderico i feel like i’ve already answered this. we haven’t had a true 1 since moss, and aj is still a one, which is why we want him. his injuries and age are the only thing that leads him to, in my eyes, not be worth a future first
@souderico the 40th a 4th and johnson are not equivalent to a first, this david johnson was on his last legs and was out of the league in 2 years.
like i said, idve be fine trading the 31st for brown, but trading future capital for an already aging reciever is irresponsible
@souderico the cardinals best reciever before getting dhop was christian kirk, im sure they were also desperate for wr help.
we can agree that both wrs had down years before they got traded, but deandre had higher highs and had a better season before getting traded yet still went for less
