Press Statement No. (987) Issued by the Government Media Office – Gaza Strip
The Government Media Office publishes an updated report on the key statistics of the ongoing genocide committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, marking two full years (730 days) of extermination — from Saturday, October 7, 2023, to Sunday, October 5, 2025.
📌 First: Population Data and General Context
· Over 2.4 million civilians in the Gaza Strip are subjected to genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing.
· 730 days (two years) of continuous genocide and ethnic cleansing against civilians.
· Approximately 90% of Gaza has been destroyed.
· The occupation has seized control of over 80% of Gaza’s total area through invasion, fire, and forced displacement.
· The occupation bombed Al-Mawasi area 136 times, despite claiming it to be a “safe humanitarian zone.”
· More than 200,000 tons of explosives have been dropped on the Gaza Strip.
🩸 Second: Martyrs, Missing Persons, and Massacres
· 76,639 total martyrs and missing persons since the start of the genocide.
· 67,139 martyrs’ bodies have reached hospitals since the war began.
· 9,500 are still missing — either buried under the rubble or their fate remains unknown.
· Over 20,000 child martyrs, of whom 19,450 have been confirmed by hospitals.
· Over 12,500 female martyrs, of whom 10,160 have reached hospitals.
· Over 9,000 martyred mothers and 22,426 martyred fathers.
· 1,015 infants under one year old have been killed.
· Over 450 babies were born and martyred during the genocide.
· 1,670 medical personnel, 140 civil defense members, and 254 journalists have been killed by the Israeli occupation.
· 176 municipal employees were martyred, including 4 mayors.
· Over 787 members of police and aid security forces were killed.
· 894 athletes from various sports disciplines were martyred.
· Over 39,022 families were massacred; 2,700 families were completely annihilated (8,574 martyrs), and 6,020 families were almost wiped out with a single survivor (12,917 martyrs).
· Over 55% of the martyrs are children, women, and the elderly.
· 460 people died due to hunger and malnutrition, including 154 children.
· 23 were killed by failed airdrops of aid.
· 42% of kidney patients have died due to lack of food and medical care.
· Over 12,000 miscarriages occurred due to hunger and poor health conditions.
· 17 displaced people, including 14 children, died from the cold in displacement camps.
⚕️ Third: Injuries, Arrests, and Humanitarian Conditions
· 169,583 total wounded and injured admitted to hospitals.
· Over 19,000 require long-term rehabilitation.
· Over 4,800 amputations, 18% of which are children.
· 1,200 cases of paralysis and 1,200 cases of total blindness.
· 433 injured journalists.
· Over 6,700 civilians have been detained since the genocide began.
· 362 medical workers, 48 journalists, and 26 civil defense members were arrested.
· 21,193 widows and 56,348 orphaned children.
· Over 2.142 million infectious disease cases due to displacement.
· Over 71,338 hepatitis infections recorded.
🏥 Fourth: Health Sector
· 38 hospitals and 96 primary care centers bombed or destroyed.
· 197 ambulances targeted.
· 788 attacks on health services, including facilities, vehicles, personnel, and supply chains.
· 61 civil defense rescue and firefighting vehicles targeted.
📚 Fifth: Education and Academic Institutions
· 95% of schools damaged.
· Over 90% of school buildings require full reconstruction or major rehabilitation.
· 668 school buildings directly bombed (≈80% of all schools).
· 165 schools, universities, and educational institutions completely destroyed; 392 partially destroyed.
· Over 13,500 student martyrs.
· Over 785,000 students deprived of education.
· Over 830 teachers and educators martyred.
· 193 academics, scholars, and researchers killed.
🕌 Sixth: Houses of Worship and Cemeteries
· Over 835 mosques completely destroyed and 180 partially destroyed.
· 3 churches repeatedly targeted.
· 40 cemeteries destroyed out of 60 total.
· Over 2,450 corpses stolen from cemeteries.
· 7 mass graves established by the occupation inside hospitals.
· 529 martyrs recovered from those mass graves.
🏠 Seventh: Housing, Displacement, and Sheltering
· Approximately 268,000 housing units completely destroyed.
· Around 148,000 heavily damaged and uninhabitable.
· About 153,000 partially damaged.
· Over 288,000 families left homeless.
· Over 125,000 tents have deteriorated and are uninhabitable out of 135,000 total.
· Around 2 million people forcibly displaced.
· 293 displacement and shelter centers targeted.
🔥 Eighth: Starvation, Aid Blockade, and Denial of Treatment
· 220 days of total closure of all Gaza crossings.
· Over 120,000 aid and fuel trucks denied entry.
· 47 community kitchens and 61 food distribution centers targeted.
· 540 aid and relief workers killed.
· 128 attacks on aid convoys and humanitarian missions.
· 2,605 martyrs, 19,124 injuries, and over 200 missing in so-called “humanitarian aid zones.”
· 650,000 children at risk of death from hunger and malnutrition.
· 40,000 infants under one year old at risk due to lack of baby formula.
· 250,000 cans of baby milk needed monthly but banned by Israel.
· Over 22,000 patients need treatment abroad but are denied exit.
· Over 5,200 children require urgent medical evacuation.
· Over 17,000 patients have completed referral procedures but are prevented from traveling.
· 12,500 cancer patients face death due to lack of treatment.
· 350,000 chronic patients in danger due to blocked medicines.
· 3,000 patients need external medical care.
· Around 107,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women face life-threatening conditions due to lack of care.
⚙️ Ninth: Infrastructure and Public Facilities
· 725 central water wells destroyed.
· 134 freshwater projects targeted, causing 9,400 deaths, mostly children.
· 5,080 km of power networks destroyed.
· 2,285 power transformers destroyed.
· 235,000 electricity meters damaged.
· Over 2.123 billion kWh of electricity denied to Gaza.
· Over 700,000 meters of water and sewage networks destroyed each.
· Over 3 million meters of roads and streets damaged.
· 247 government buildings destroyed.
· 292 sports facilities and 208 archaeological sites destroyed.
🌾 Tenth: Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries
· Over 94% of agricultural land (out of 178,000 dunums) destroyed.
· 1,223 agricultural wells destroyed.
· 665 livestock and poultry farms destroyed.
· Cultivated vegetable lands reduced from 93,000 dunums to 4,000.
· Over 85% of greenhouses destroyed.
· Annual vegetable production dropped from 405,000 tons to 28,000 tons.
· 100% of the fishing sector devastated.
💥 Eleventh: Preliminary Direct Losses in 15 Vital Sectors
· Total direct preliminary losses: $70 billion.
· Health sector: ≈ $5 billion.
· Education sector: ≈ $4 billion.
· Housing sector: ≈ $28 billion.
· Religious sector: ≈ $1 billion.
· Industrial sector: ≈ $4 billion.
· Commercial sector: ≈ $4.5 billion.
· Agricultural sector: ≈ $2.8 billion.
· Media sector: ≈ $0.8 billion.
