Together we are building a Renewable, Flexible & Resilient power system. Hydropower Extending Power System Flexibility (XFLEX HYDRO). #H2020 @EU_H2020 @iha_org
Well done @EDFofficiel team for walking us the important work that you do, keeping the lights on with hydropower, and keeping the power grid stable. With @EDF_Innovation and the support of the @HorizonEU programme. @natachagrz

In the meantime, we are extending the lifespan of hydropower equipment and making the electricity grid more stable thanks to a turbine/battery hybrid at Vogelgrun, France (142MW, est. 1969). 70% decrease in wear and tear. Faster response time for grid services.
Less gas, more renewable energy. Another benefit of using hydropower power. “Doing more with the same equipment makes sense economically, but also environmentally and strategically” explains Frédéric Corrégé, Regional Director at EDF. Read more below.

Grand'Maison hydropower plant. Today, EDF invited public officials and experts to take part in a visit of the power plant which is one of six European sites where full-scale testing of flexibility upgrade is taking place, as part of the XFLEX HYDRO project.
EDP hosted a visit of the Alqueva XFLEX HYDRO demonstration today to share its progress with partners and stakeholders.
