Today I saw a news item: The Wall Street Journal reported that Polymarket encountered at least $10 million in attempted fraud: fraudsters used stolen debit cards to deposit funds, place bets, and then try to withdraw the money to "clean" accounts. At the peak, one payment processor rejected more than 80% of deposits. I feel that a prediction market's order book can be designed very well, but the funding layer can still cause the entire platform to fail.
The interplay between technology and business is mutually reinforcing; one needs to be a technical person who understands the business.

Do you ever feel down? How do you adjust to those times? Have you ever done any self-reflection? Do you constantly question the flaws in human nature? Self-reflection is a painful process - constantly reflecting and growing, keeping track of your own cognitive changes.
For a while, I kept wondering what the development of AI would mean for young people. It takes away the cost of trial and error and the opportunity to gain experience that they should have had, but it does give them the chance to understand the world quickly. Whether this rapid development is like pulling up seedlings by the roots remains to be seen. Let's wait and see what history has to say.

Just now I saw people reminiscing about coding before AI came along. Back then, we'd spend weeks agonizing over a single bug. It gave us a real sense of accomplishment, but those days are gone forever.
