OGUN POLICE CHARGE FIVE FOR SERIOUS ASSAULT ON OFFICERS IN OTA
The Ogun State Police Command has charged five suspects before the Ota Magistrate Court following an investigation into the serious assault and obstruction of police officers performing their lawful duties around The Bells area, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, on 2 October 2026.
The incident occurred when a police patrol team intercepted and arrested a suspect found in possession of a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp. While conveying the handcuffed suspect to the station, the officers were allegedly ambushed by a group of persons who attacked them with cutlasses, stones and bottles, resulting in injuries to police personnel, damage to the operational vehicle and the escape of the suspect.
Following immediate intelligence-led operations, the Ogun State Police Command arrested five suspects: Morenikeji Badmus, 36; Adedoja Segun, 40; Jeremiah Odise Ugbede Onride, 49; Mike Stephen, 28; and David Odeh, 32. They were arraigned on counts bordering on conspiracy, serious assault on police officers, obstruction of lawful duty and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, reiterates that the safety of police officers performing lawful duties remains a priority of the Command. Members of the public are urged to refrain from physical confrontation with law enforcement personnel and channel grievances through established lawful channels.

POLICE, SISTER SECURITY AGENCIES RESCUE 20 ABDUCTED PROSPECTIVE NYSC CORPS MEMBERS IN IMO
The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has rescued the 20 prospective NYSC corps members abducted in Imo State on 1st October 2026.
The victims were rescued on 7th October 2026 at Amakohia Ubi Village, Imo State, following sustained search-and-rescue operations. They have since been taken for medical assessment and necessary care.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the abduction, as the Police and other security agencies sustain coordinated operations towards bringing all culpable persons to justice.
The Nigeria Police Force appreciates members of the public for their cooperation and support and remains committed to the protection of lives and property, prompt response to security threats and continued collaboration with sister security agencies.

1. LAGOS STATE: RECOVERY OF 267KG OF SUSPECTED CANNABIS INDICA
✅ Police operatives, alongside other security agencies, participated in the joint examination of a 40ft container at Apapa, where 275 sachets of substance suspected to be Canadian Cannabis Indica were discovered concealed inside four chest deep freezers.
✅ The recovered exhibits are in custody for further investigation.
🔹 Status: SCID Panti Investigating.
2. OYO STATE: RESCUE OF THREE KIDNAP VICTIMS
✅ Joint security operatives combed the bushes around Idi-Ayure, Ibadan, following the abduction of four company staff members and successfully rescued three victims unhurt.
✅ Intensive operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
🔹 Status: SCID Ibadan Investigating.
3. PLATEAU STATE: RESCUE OF TWO KIDNAP VICTIMS
✅ Police operatives successfully rescued the wife of a retired AIG and another victim who were abducted from their residence at Gura-Topp, Rayfield, Jos South LGA.
✅ The victims were rescued unhurt, debriefed and reunited with their families.
🔹 Status: SCID Jos Investigating.
4. BORNO STATE: REPELLING OF TERRORIST ATTACK
✅ Combined security forces successfully repelled an attack by suspected ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists in Zakari Area, Nganzai LGA.
✅ Security measures have been strengthened and normalcy restored in the area.
🔹 Status: SCID Maiduguri Investigating.
5. DELTA STATE: ARREST OF THREE SUSPECTED CULTISTS / RECOVERY OF FIREARM
✅ Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected cult meeting and arrested three suspects.
✅ Recovered was one automatic pump-action gun.
🔹 Status: SCID Asaba Investigating.
6. BAUCHI STATE: ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS / RECOVERY OF TWO MOTORCYCLES
✅ Patrol operatives intercepted a group of suspected armed robbers who had allegedly robbed two Okada riders and arrested one suspect.
✅ Two motorcycles were recovered, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and other participants in the subsequent mob action.
🔹 Status: SCID Bauchi Investigating.
7. OYO STATE: ARREST OF SUSPECT / RECOVERY OF FIREARM AND OTHER EXHIBITS
✅ Police operatives on stop-and-search duty intercepted a Toyota Camry after its occupants refused to stop and arrested one suspect.
✅ Recovered from the vehicle were one revolver toy gun, 23 toy bullets, eight expended toy bullets, suspected Indian hemp, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, jewellery and other exhibits.
🔹 Status: SCID Ibadan Investigating.
8. KOGI STATE: ABDUCTION VICTIM ESCAPES / RESCUED
✅ An abducted victim, UMAR IBRAHIM, successfully escaped from his abductors and was brought to the police station by his relatives.
✅ His statement was obtained and he was released to his relatives for medical attention, while bush-combing operations continue to apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.
🔹 Status: SCID Lokoja Investigating.
9. DELTA STATE: ARREST OF SUSPECT / RECOVERY OF AUTOMATIC PUMP-ACTION GUN
✅ Police operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested three suspects during a raid on a suspected cult meeting.
✅ The suspects led operatives to an abandoned building where one automatic pump-action gun was recovered.
🔹 Status: SCID Asaba Investigating.
10. OYO STATE: RESCUE OF VICTIM / ARREST EFFORTS AGAINST KIDNAPPERS
✅ Police operatives rescued an abducted victim during a bush-combing operation around the Ijebu-Ode–Ibadan Road.
✅ The victim was successfully brought to safety, while intensive operations continue to apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.

Today, we join the Nigerian Air Force in mourning the tragic loss of 25 lives in the NAF 931 aircraft accident, which occurred on 5 October 2026 in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
On behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, I extend my deepest condolences to the Chief of the Air Staff, the officers and men of the Nigerian Air Force, and the bereaved families.
As a mark of respect for the departed and in solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force, all Nigeria Police Commands and Formations, including Force Headquarters, Abuja will fly flags at half-mast during the three-day mourning period, from 6th to 8th October 2026.
Their courage, service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We stand with their families and colleagues in this moment of grief.
May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may God grant their loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss.

Thr NAF 931 (ATR 42-500MP, MSN 800) was manufactured in 2009.
It was subsequently delivered to the Nigerian Air Force on 30 March 2010.
So at the time of the 5 October 2026 crash, the airframe was approximately 17 years old, although it had been in Nigerian service for about 16½ years.
Some reports indicate that the aircraft was grounded for 3 years.

Remembering our Fallen Pilots.
Squadron Leader Bello Mohammed Baba-Ari succumbed to internal injuries after ejecting from an F-7Ni fighter jet following a mid-air collision on September 28, 2018.
An Alpha Jet flown by Group Captain Abdulrasheed Bamidele Braimoh and Wing Commander Chimda Hedima went down near Kauri, in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, on September 12, 2014, while conducting a combat mission against Boko Haram terrorists.
Wing Commander Hedima was captured by the insurgents and later killed.
The fate of Group Captain Braimoh remains unresolved. His remains were never recovered, and he was subsequently declared Killed in Action in accordance with Armed Forces of Nigeria regulations.
These outstanding warriors had a few things in common: love of country, passion for flying, and knowing they were fighting for a cause greater than themselves.
