In the original manga, Renji is only a companion, like family. Reading the manga, I never imagined any romance between them at all. The ending really took me by surprise; it felt completely out‑of‑place.

IHs found my post and are saying i didn't read the novel... i spoke about the EXPRESSION.... about what KUBO drew... the novel can say whatever it wants, throughout the entire manga, Rukia never ever had a thought about Renji. She simply didn't feel about him like he did for her.
