Catherine gave them nothing. Not a single name. Not one location. Her silence saved countless lives, though it ravaged her body and left scars that never fully healed. Ravensbrück concentration camp came next. Somehow she survived that too.
When the war ended, she didn't reclaim wealth or status. She became a florist at Les Halles market in Paris, selling jasmine and roses alongside Hervé. In 1947, her brother Christian was naming his first perfume. As he debated options with his muse, Catherine walked into the room.
"Ah, there's Miss Dior!" someone exclaimed.
Christian's face changed. He had found his name.
The perfume became legendary—jasmine and rose notes that were, unknowingly, a tribute to the flowers Catherine tended daily. It was her story of renewal, bottled for the world. She spent her remaining years as guardian of the Dior legacy, surrounded by beauty and the quiet triumph of simply being alive.
The next time you catch the scent of Miss Dior, you're not just smelling perfume. You're breathing in the story of a woman who survived the ice and chose the flowers.

I’ve watched people walk out of the UN all week and I keep thinking the same thing: then what the hell is the point of the United Nations?

You don’t have to agree. You don’t have to like what’s being said. But if countries can’t even sit in the same damn room and listen to each other, what exactly are we paying for?

I’m tired of watching our tax dollars disappear into institutions that seem increasingly incapable of doing the very thing they were created to do.

Wars everywhere. Countries refusing to listen to each other. Delegates walking out when they don’t like the speaker.

And we call this the UNITED Nations?

At some point you stop fixing something that clearly isn’t working.

Dismantle it. Keep whatever actually serves a purpose and build something better.

Because whatever the hell this is, it isn’t “united.”
