Explaining the difference between PR and crisis management was not on my bingo card this morning.
There is a reason governments retain crisis management firms and how they would advised the Zambian government.
1). Pre-emptive: they literally tell you to not do anything stupid. If you have been monitoring people for a while (unclear how long), why would you pick the night of the election to act?
2). Evidence: if you are going to do something, have an airtight case. People were dismissive when I said this is why the police and some military operations (eg Bin Laden take down) are filmed. It’s about providing evidence and a strong justification for your actions. You can’t just do what you like because you are the state.
3). Accountability and transparency: own what happened, don’t deny it. Tell us the truth and nothing but the truth. Again people were dismissive and said they didn’t because of national security concerns. During an election?! Someone was killed and the family were informed days later?
We are in crisis and the country needs answers.
The Ministry of Information is clearly not equipped to handle this situation.
Edgar Lungu, a former Zambian president who clashed with investors in the key mining industry and oversaw a massive ramp-up in state debt, has died. He was 68. https://t.co/4n8osSmssM
Our lack of accountability as a country is the start of a lot of our problems. We’re not accountable to our partners, our children, our friends, our employers, our employees. We love walking on eggshells. A simple, candid and respectful professional disagreement will warrant you an enemy in our country.
So now, we are talking about drug theft, but there’ll be no accountability. When I did the RTSA investigative report, some people were calling me, telling me that people’s jobs were at risk. No accountability.
Donald Trump should complete his stunning common sense dismantlement of the woke mind virus brigade by announcing he’s now identifying as a woman and will therefore become America’s first female president…
