The National Training Complex at Prampram, which was supposed be the National Football Academy with classrooms and teachers for the purpose, has been under lock and keys since since it’s opening in 2005 thereabout.
That is where, as a citizen of Ghana, your talented kid could be picked and trained for FREE till he becomes a national star, as was with the Mbappes.
The Ghanaman Soccer School of Excellence, was where you could have laid that claim as your bite of the national cake.
But no, you want someone who’s invested his hard earned money, to establish a football center in the middle of Accra, to open it for FREE, so that your kids can walk in and use the facilities to develop their talent.
Even when they’ve explained that there will be a free session and a paid session, you insist they’re in for money. What should they be in for? Is any individual in Ghana under any obligation to open a free football academy?
When it comes to demanding better things from our government and institutions acting on our behalf, we are starkly divided on political, tribal and relationship lines. We treat them with kid gloves.
Our sense of entitlement is always on individual and private businesses.
If you are poor like me, and have a 12 year old boy who you think is talented and needs to be trained, pick a car to Accra Mall, pick a trotro to Prampram.
Tell the mate you’ll alight at the Ghana National Football School of Excellence.
Drop him over and go back to your hometown. It’s your only football public school.
Let those who want to pay for their kids go and pay. After all it’s not by force.
