Roblox changes aside, why are we trying to normalize age verification by submitting photos of sensitive information (IDs) or ourselves on the internet? we already saw w the whole Tea app leak that companies can (and will) lie abt deleting these photos, and its just gonna create a central repository of sensitive information that threat actors will go after. If private companies can't be bothered to do it properly, what makes us trust governments more with this?

Also judging how old someone is by how they look doesn't work reliably at bars and places to get adult drinks or medicine or whatever, so why would some magical AI fix that? Not to mention AI may have biases in its training data or hallucinate or do something unexpected...

IMO we need better internet safety training and better parenting, just more proactive approaches in general rather than this reactive approach to internet safety.

just my thoughts on this as someone who works in tech/cybersecurity
