@PopMech We have the drives that we do because evolution selected for them. AI does what it does because it was trained and/or engineered to have the "behavior" that it does. If it poses a threat to humanity, it is going to be because someone effectively engineered it to do so.
@WIRED@WiredUK It seems like regulatory uncertainty is the issue given that new laws are still being negotiated. Why roll out AI on that scale when the rules it will have to abide by arent known?
@Just_Academic @Erika_TVICOMS @PhDVoice@PostdocVoice@AcademicChatter Why do you care so much about what this person says when you know that you arent a priority to them just what you can offer them? Why sacrifice seeing your family for this person when youre going to leave soon anyway?
@theAliceRoberts What gets me about the "let it rip" people and kids is that theyre fine with exposing other peoples kids to a novel virus that hasnt been around long enough to know the full extent of the damage it can cause but theyre also usually against vaccines...
@TiaNDonaldson So their answer to why you should stay in academia is that it leaves you without the experience to do anything else and thats a selling point to them??
@ThePhDPlace The things I miss during that part of my life had nothing to do with the ease of socialization not school itself. I dont miss having undiagnosed ADHD with no support and only abuse.
