BREAKING: Saudi Arabia has evacuated and closed its international airport in Riyadh after a missile attack by Yemen’s Houthis killed at least 12 people and left dozens injured.
President Trump is now saying the US could join Saudi strikes on the Houthis in light of the airport attack.
BREAKING: At least 12 people have been killed and 50 injured in today's Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a mass casualty event and the deadliest attack in a Gulf country since the war began, with the airport forced to temporarily suspend operations, per the NYT.
Trump says the US may intervene after today's incident, "We may. We're going to look at it. We just found out about the recent attack, so we'll make a decision. We move very quickly."
Saudi Arabia is increasingly concerned that continued missile attacks from Yemen could damage its economy and disrupt tourism and business travel, according to the WSJ.
Saudi Arabia cannot afford a prolonged war with Yemen's Ansarullah as its stockpile of missile interceptors is being rapidly depleted.
Over the past few weeks, Saudi Arabia have targeted entrances to Ansarullah's underground missile facilities. However, the strikes have had limited success and have not significantly reduced Ansarullah's missile launch rate.
Saudi Arabia may be forced to seek a ceasefire with Ansarullah in the coming weeks, or possibly even days.
