Your voice is a biometric you can't change.
Banks use voice verification, smart assistants recognize you by speech patterns, and deepfake technology can clone your voice from a few seconds of audio. That podcast appearance, that YouTube video, that voicemail greeting all provide samples.
Every call made through a VoIP carrier was processed by servers that logged it.
@0xJon23@sebp888@privcartcom Unpopular opinion? I thought this has become a common sense opinion in the Monero community by now...π€ͺ
Anyway, the project sounds awesome. Great work! ππ»
βΌοΈπͺπΊ The EU's new Age Verification app was hacked with little to no effort.
When you set it up, the app asks you to create a PIN. But that PIN isn't actually tied to the identity data it's supposed to protect. An attacker can delete a couple of entries from a file on the phone, restart the app, pick a new PIN, and the app happily hands over the original user's verified identity credentials as if nothing happened.
It gets worse. The app's "too many attempts" lockout is just a counter in a text file. Reset it to 0 and keep guessing. The biometric check (face/fingerprint) is a simple on/off switch in the same file. Flip it to off and the app skips it entirely.
Spent a good chunk of the day going down the THORChain + Monero rabbit hole.
Started with simple questions like βwhy didnβt they integrate privacy coins sooner?β and ended up learning the full technical flow:
SGX enclaves running full Monero nodes, FROST threshold signatures so no single node ever holds the private key, one-time stealth addresses, encrypted confirmations, and how the enclave only verifies the deposit while staying blind to the swap destination.
The more I understood, the more I realized something deeper.
THORChain privacy vaults and Monero mining are both largely driven by pure conviction, not economics.
THORChain node operators are paying $2,000β$3,000/month out of pocket, bonding six-figure RUNE, earning barely enough to break even (or less), and still keeping the nodes online.
Monero miners have an almost symbolic tail emission and have been grinding for years with very little financial upside.
Theyβre not doing it for quick profits.
Theyβre doing it because they genuinely believe in decentralized, private, censorship-resistant infrastructure.
In a world full of hype, airdrop farmers, and short-term traders, watching people quietly sacrifice time and money for their principles is genuinely inspiring.
Huge respect to the THORChain node runners and the Monero community.
Real belief is rare these days.
Hope I can contribute something as part of the community by making @kyc_rip a new home for both worlds.

- Age verification is just universal KYC with better PR.
- Think of the children" always ends up being a Trojan horse for the surveillance state.
- Brussels selling a gov ID tracker as "privacy-by-design" is peak comedy.
Cryptography means absolutely nothing when the state issues the root credential.
Tying browser access to a Digital ID wallet has nothing to do with safety.
They just want mandatory internet KYC and hold the kill switch. The clearnet is officially a gated prison.
