I’ve successfully run the full retained MaleCNS v1.0 fruit fly connectome, all 166,700 neurons, inside Minecraft, with its simulated neural activity driving a fly’s movement.

V1 Currently in development. Built with the help of GPT-6 Astra.

LLVM hides details like stack and register allocation. A backend from scratch isn’t too difficult; optimizing it is. Here’s the output of my Lisp compiler, built from scratch. Not optimized, but it works.

Writing your own Compiler is an unbeatable learning experience for anyone who wants to understand low level fundamentals. Not just for understanding how hardware and operating systems work, but also for security. The best way to start is to use what is an available and LLVM is the best standard with extensive documentation for all purposes. I highly suggest anyone looking to gain that experience to start sifting through LLVM docs and getting familiar with compiler and optimization architecture.
