The NHS just got the go-ahead to start recruiting kids as young as 11 for the puberty blockers trial in August. Girls from 11, boys from 12.

Cass Review already laid out how thin the evidence is and flagged the real risks to bone density, fertility, brain development and everything else that comes with blocking normal puberty. Yet here Britain is anyway, signing children up for what amounts to a medical experiment.

Our first stop in Italy was a sit-down with a former BBC-style journalist who also served as a politician here.
