$580M in oil trades just before Trump’s “productive talks” post. Coincidence?

Between 6:49 and 6:50 a.m. New York time — about 15 minutes before the post — traders executed around 6,200 Brent and WTI futures contracts. They bet on falling prices, and volumes spiked sharply 27 seconds before 6:50. At the same time, others traded S&P 500 futures worth another $1.5 billion.

At 7:04, Trump posted about “productive talks” — oil dropped more than 10%, while stock futures jumped. In about 20 minutes, traders could have made over $100 million.

Who was behind the trades remains unknown. Experts call the timing “abnormal,” but there’s no proof of insider trading.

Reminder: Iran says no talks took place.
