Every cycle is the same: "This time it's different'' and "No Altseason this time."
But the cycle, so far, is playing out in the exact same way:
> Clear range low reclaim pattern.
> Clear cycle pattern.
> Bitcoin first, and Altcoins lag behind
> After the new BTC highs, the 'total 3' and 'others' charts started catching up.
> Bitcoin dominance hasn't even broken down yet.
Relax.
1. BTC
2. Majors
3. Others (altszn)
The only real change each cycle is more altcoin dilution—more sectors, chains, and tokens competing for the same money and attention.
Staying in the right metas, in those getting that attention and inflow, takes more work every cycle.
The chart below also shows it’s not so different:
1. Bitcoin consolidates after the first impulsive leg into new highs.
Everyone assumes it’s over, and we topped without Altseason.
2. At the same time, Bitcoin dominance breaks down from its uptrend but hasn’t started trending down yet.
The moment before the real thing starts.
The chart below shows the current and previous cycle of Bitcoin and the Total altcoin market cap:
> Blue arrows:
2019: Bitcoin breaks the range high; Altcoin market cap still at range low. Altcoins rallied only after Bitcoin broke the ATH.
> Red arrows:
2024: Same pattern—Altcoin market cap at range low; the rally began once Bitcoin broke the ATH.
> Purple arrows:
2019: Bitcoin consolidates after breaking the ATH; Altcoin market cap is below the range high. When Bitcoin resumes, Altcoin market cap broke out.
24/25: Same position right now
Bitcoin and the Total Altcoin market cap are currently at the same spot, following the same type of move as in the previous cycle.
Bitcoin is consolidating after its first impulsive leg up above the range high, and the Total Altcoin market cap is consolidating below the range high.
'Will Altcoins dump 30% again before Altseason?'
This is the most asked question right now.
1. The Risk in the question
2. The market and probabilities for a dip
--------
> Since the bull market began, the Total Crypto market cap jumped from ~$1T to $4T.
This wasn't from the bottom but after a clear market structure break (higher high).
While most agree it's a bull market, how many rode it up with proper exposure?
Many stayed sidelined, either after having exposure before or never being in properly.
The main reason, imo?
> Worrying about or trying to trade short-term price movement.
Understand this:
1. Nobody knows for sure what will be next.
2. We are making bets based on what we think has the highest probability.
3. Every bet has a probability of turning out wrong
4. Make enough bets, and you'll be wrong once or twice, for sure, everyone.
The bet I made in late 2023 was:
- Bitcoin reclaims the range low while starting stage 4. We'll start a new cycle and go to the range highs and above.
(Bet visualized: https://t.co/rzy4ZuNLAA)
This is one high-probability bet from my journal—a strong setup. If I win, I'll ride the entire cycle with exposure.
Now, imagine I start trading lower time frames, trying to predict and trade every pullback on the way up.
I'll 100% be wrong on some short-term moves. Betting like this with full spot exposure guarantees I'll be sidelined at some point. Once sidelined, betting on dips means I'll eventually stay out too long and buy back higher.
Fewer bets = Better odds of being right.
Stick to high-timeframe setups, ride spot, and accept that nobody can predict every short-term move. (so stop trying it)
--------
30% dips are happening in a bull market, and it's important to acknowledge this.
It's even more important to understand that if you try to time them, you will be wrong and miss out at some point.
Looking at short-term price movement is okay if it doesn't ruin your longer-term spot bull cycle plan and play.
Asking "Will there be another 30% dip?" risks:
> Selling to buy back lower.
> Staying sidelined when you want exposure.
When it's good to consider a 30% dip:
> To stay open-minded and hold through them, knowing they’re normal.
> If you have exposure and want to slowly scale in more, staying prepared for a dip.
2. The market and the probabilities for a dip
The Total Altcoin market cap looks extremely bullish, so I’m staying max exposed.
However, we’re at the range high zone, with a higher probability of a 10-30% pullback.
> Range high zone = higher odds of dip.
> Mini range low zone (orange) = good buy opportunity.
> Flip the higher-timeframe range high (purple) = lower dip probability.
I’m not betting on it, just holding, but it’s worth watching if you plan to increase exposure.
Don’t buy green—buy red.
> ETHBTC
Another bullish macro cycle chart. It's at Monthly support, but that doesn’t mean it’s leaving the station tomorrow. It could range here for weeks—nobody knows how long before the big move.
The mini range at support could still see 10-20% dips, heavily impacting Altcoins short term. But worrying too much about these small moves and betting on them increases the chance of missing the real move when it happens. Seeing so many people look at ETHBTC charts lower than the Daily while trying to predict its next move, all while it's ranging at macro (monthly support)
High probability of more ranging and potential 10% + Altcoin dips while ETHBTC isn’t trending up from support. But no, this isn’t the place to bet on dips—this is the place to accumulate.
Once it leaves this spot, the probability of dips will go down.
> BTC.D
Another bullish macro Altcoin chart. But again, nobody knows if it will drop here like a stone, range more first, or go for one more push.
