Deeper lens👁️ - The Essence
I started a series a few months ago named “Deeper lense”. Everyday I wrote on a topic peculiar to the beautiful game and I think it’s time after my break to address what meaning this carries.
🚨 Kylian Mbappé: “I had a GREAT INDIVIDUAL YEAR, and I know that’s the most IMPORTANT criteria for the Ballon d’Or.
I was the TOP SCORER in all competitions.
I think it could be a good year for me, I FEEL IT DEEP DOWN.
I would be DISAPPOINTED to not win it. When a competitor doesn’t win, he is DISAPPOINTED.
My COMPETITIVE SPIRT WOULD BE HURT.”
Back in 2024…
Clearly narrated here is the reason why pragmatism at its core is not sustainable. Citing the learning effect as one of the reasons for this.
Almost 2 years on from this and Real Madrid are still stuck where they were 2 years ago… with a pragmatist.
Maybe when Mourinho experiences similar circumstances at the club since 2023. You will accept that the quality of the teams around us has improved, and we can only show good performances by being more proactive and having a stronger collective behaviour inevery phase of the game.
@nonewthing Insightful thread on how to predict a team’s performance for the season.
I have one question… for now. How, specifically, do you determine the balance of a team?
What are the indicators you look for?
I've always believed that when it comes to expensive transfers, the reasonable thing to do is to target players who not only fill gaps in your team but also have the potential or ready skill set to help you make proactive decisions to stay ahead of the game, especially given the trend in your domestic league, which is often more predictable than in European competitions.
I honestly don't understand what Real Madrid did this summer, given that Mourinho used to be known for his ability to analyse what is required to win domestic titles.
@GabiNotGabriel_ Particularly because he is quite stiff. Having a goal keeper that can quickly maneuver with (agility) and without the ball (positional empathy) is of great importance to Alonso in addition to the accuracy of his distribution.
I think long-term, they need to sign someone capable.
@Footballera0 I’m sorry, the football era. This is not about Arsenal respectfully.
Real Madrid simply want a player that has given everything for them to stay and are agitated because over the last two years (not now) contract renewal negotiations have stalled.
We do not need to sign a replacement even if Vini leaves.
If Diomande comes as is expected, he could fill in there. Do not forget that we have Endrick, Espi, Rodrygo, and Brahim.
A less start studded front line but a very balanced one.
@MadridXtra@La_SER 24 months sample size with two different types of managers. It’s a principle problem, you can’t build a team that dominates in all phases with two passengers off the ball.
You can’t figure it out… at least not to a sustainable extent.
@imkikosuarez The club will make the most financially and sportingly viable decision.
At the end the club caters to a lot more and has to take into consideration more factors like the current system, how he can contribute in the next few years compared to the investment.
@junglebauy Water is wet.
Vini is the best LW in the world. He’s not asking for too much but it’s too much for Real Madrid as it will set an unsustainable precedent in addition to the fact that we already cater for another superstar in a similar manner.
