So ridiculous.
• Personal confession began as soon as Christ gave the Apostles the power to forgive personal sins (John 20:23)
• Confession IN CHURCH is documented as early as 70 AD (Didache)
• Confession TO A PRIEST is known as widespread in the 200s (Origen, Cyprian)
I love the irony and contradiction of the statement @needGod_net made… it’s delicious like a Shake Shack burger
“You won’t need to obey and do good works.
Jesus made it to heaven by obeying and doing good works according to the Father’s will.”
In other words, don’t try and imitate Jesus, that’s a fools errand. You do you bro, and cash in on the works Jesus did if you get to heaven.
THE MAGNIFICAT (CANTICLE OF MARY)
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel,
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.
In 96 AD, the Apostle John was still alive.
Yet when a crisis erupted in Corinth, the church that wrote to fix it was in Rome.
That detail should stop every Protestant cold.
A thread.
People like this don’t understand what faith in Jesus really means.
To explain: Satan has used easy believism to convince many Protestants that if obedience plays any role in attaining eternal life, you’re trusting yourself instead of Christ.
Yet, Scripture teaches that Christ is the source of our salvation, and still He commands repentance, obedience, perseverance, and holiness. And all of this is only possible by God’s grace, not apart from it.
The idea that believing obedience is necessary for attaining eternal life means you’re “trusting yourself” is absurd. By that logic, every time Christ warned about judgment according to deeds, He was teaching people to trust themselves instead of Him.
No, Christ saves us. But Christ never taught that obedience to Him is optional. And anyone who teaches this, like Ryan, is a servant of Satan.
