@CeliaBedelia My family did that once when I was a kid, but we always stopped halfway through. On the outbound trip somewhere in the French Alps, and on the inbound trip just outside Cluny. It makes it much nicer, and gives you the time to do a bit of sightseeing.

@BartronPolygon@StefanFSchubert I also wonder the same things about my hometown here in Italy. Like, in the 4-buildings street I live on, there's frequently half a million dollars in cars just parked there. And they're mostly blocks of flats from the 50s, nothing fancy.

@BetterDrivingUS@19th_c_Houston The vast majority of biking deaths are caused by collisions with motor vehicles. Also, the number of miles doesn't stay constant. My daily mobility needs are fully satisfied by a bicycle, but then I do one work trip by car, and that's more miles than the rest of the year.
