LOCATION CHANGE for Sunday, 7/21 at 11 am: March on Waikiki for #MaunaKea 🔊🔊🔊 Meet at Fort DeRussy Park (corner of Kalakaua and Saratoga) #WeAreMaunaKea
A heavily armed police force arrested 33 Native Hawaiian elders who were peacefully protecting our most sacred mountain from desecration. Our kūpuna are literally laying down their bodies for our environment and culture—and they must not shoulder this burden alone. #WeAreMaunaKea
My heart hurts not only for our kupuna but for the police officers who are conflicted... Some of these officers are native Hawaiians and don't want to be there but have to be to provide for their families. Remember who the real enemy is, it isn't the officers its our FAKE STATE..
They facing either side of the road. Some have sticks. One kia’i recommending people be prepared to cover mouth and nose. Still singing mele lāhui and holding the line.
If you’re sitting around feeling - like a lot of us - helpless at the news of arrest of kūpuna, one is the easiest things you can do - if you have the means - is to donate to the bail fund. If kia‘i can’t make bail they will have to stay in jail 😰💔
Mauna kea Update: Kupuna are singing Hawai'i Aloha. First arrest in progress. 1 Kupuna has crawled thru the police line and is laying on his stomach in the middle. Confirmed as Uncle Billy. He is yelling that police better not touch anyone other than the kupuna today
Mauna kea Update: Uncle walter Ritte is the 6th arrest he calls for Hawaiian unity and to rise up. as he is taken away by police he kisses his wife 1 last time before they put him in the van
