Nigeria's challenges lie in its leadership, as highlighted in Fela Kuti's music and Chinua Achebe's literary works, particularly in "The Trouble with Nigeria." Achebe posits that the root of the Nigerian problem is the inability or reluctance of leaders to uphold the ideals of authentic leadership, such as leading by example and taking responsibility. Shockingly, three decades after the book's release, the situation in Nigeria has only deteriorated.
This article highlights how Nigerian politics often lack issue-based policies and ideological principles. This void allows influential individuals and interest groups to exploit the lack of coherence through political godfatherism, which enables them to maintain their hold on power and resources. To address this, there are specific steps that you can take.

@DrOaikhena I mean look at the face on that poster and tell me how on earth any reasonable person thought he was presidential material by any means. This is the problem, we kept digging the holes deeper for ourselves, and then turned around to complain.
We Africans need to start reflecting on our lives and experiences. We should pause and ask, “who are we really”?
And what happened during colonialism?
We often believe we have an identity because we belong to a “tribe” or follow a religion. However, we need to address what happened to our ancestors, grandparents, and parents, and the trauma we inherited. Proper therapy and healing of our identities are essential. Most importantly, we must ensure that what happened in the past never happens again.
@ChidiOdinkalu@UniIbadan@inecnigeria I don’t do tribal, ethnic, or religion biase politics. There is a reason why 99% of responses here came from Yoruba urchins, and I know why. Do you want me to name it?

All we need is a transparent electoral system and an INEC that is truly independent. Every other permutation is agreeing and accepting the corrupt status quote. What happened in 2023 was a broad day light electoral heist, a complete robbery. One place where POs vote didn’t count the most was in the North. They colluded, and robbed him off. I don’t say this blindly. The votes of the Igbos in the North were suppressed. Ask them and they will tell you. From polling station to polling station, in places where they gathered in their numbers and cast the votes they found a completely lower numbers announced. These are things we should channel our energies to. And if it feels unsurmountable to us then we are not ready yet. We are always looking for saviours and easy paths.
