Real estate is massively overpriced & always rising in price because people don't just buy homes as homes; they buy them as saving accounts because they're better than bank saving accounts and government bonds. The average 28 year old isn't competing against other home buyers, he's competing against rich people and retirees and asset management firms and Blackrock, all of whom find it attractive to invest in homes and rent them out, only because fiat money sucks as a store of value. Once these people realize they're better off just buying bitcoin, they'll get rid of their real estate bags and home prices will decline and people will buy homes to live in, not to save in. 28 year olds will be far more likely to afford homes in that world.
