9 driverless @tesla@robotaxi rides in 2 days. $120.80 total.
5 were in the Cybercab: two seats, a screen, and no steering wheel or pedals at all.
4 were in the Tesla Robotaxi Model Y. No human driver in any of them.
That makes 3 different driverless cars for me this year:
โณ March: Waymo Jaguar in downtown Atlanta
โณ April: Tesla Robotaxi Model Y in Austin
โณ September: Tesla Cybercab in Austin
The price is what I still can't believe:
โณ Cheapest ride: $9.45
โณ Most expensive: $19.36
โณ A 5.5-mile, 17-minute ride: $14.79
โณ Average: $13.42 a ride
My honest take on the Cybercab: it's amazing.
โณ Smooth the entire ride
โณ It seemed to pick up pedestrians, bikes, and scooters better than a human driver would
โณ It hit a road closure with caution tape and handled it great
โณ The cabin is great, and the butterfly doors are awesome
Compared to the Model Y, the ride itself feels about the same. The Cybercab carries 2 passengers instead of 4.
Picking one mostly came down to which car could get to me faster. Prices move around, and sometimes the Model Y was the cheaper one. My guess is demand and how far the car had to come to pick me up.
Either way, it was a bit more refined than @Waymo.
The real difference is purpose.
In April I said the Robotaxi felt native because Tesla built the hardware and the software together.
The Cybercab goes one step further. It was purpose-built to be a taxi, for passengers and never a driver. There is no wheel to grab and no pedal to press.
I rode from The Carpenter Hotel to Rails World at the Palmer Events Center and recorded the ride. $11.10.
Inside Ruby on Rails - The Rails Foundation - Rails World, the talk was AI writing the code. On the way there, AI drove the car.
The robots are driving. And now the car isn't even built for a human driver.
If Elon Musk announced ONE of these tomorrow, what would excite you most?
A. Tesla flying cars ๐โ๏ธ
B. Humans on Mars ๐ช
C. AI personal assistants ๐ค
D. Free global internet ๐

FSD drove past multiple small grass fires and smoke today without a single hesitation or disengagement.
Bioweapon Defense Mode kept the smoke smell out of the cabin entirely. Kudos @Tesla
A lot of holes in this...So answer me this...did this hacker acquire access at the local board level or access from remote, as local access would require physical access ie breaking into the vehicle to access just sayn...
Also why are you pushing the EV connection here, many new cars ICE and EV have cameras for lane keeping and mergency breaking, connected back to the mothership, if this is such an issue follow what china did with Tesla as mentioned but you failed to mention they make all the cars report via an Australian data centre so big brother can check data before it goes back to China, Taiwan, USA, Indonesia and every other Car manufacturer on the planet that has connected vehicles!
Sure I'm not against security and many thanks to 4corners for brining up the security issue but please why are you pushing this as an EV narritive? here's my follow up interview with the NT ABC drive's Nat..
Today at Giga Texas Cybercabs are all over including on the top of the multi-level parking garage for the 1st time! Many at the main exit point of the factory too & growing numbers showing up at the W End-of-Line and Outbound lots too!
We also see more test track work with Cybercabs today, mostly on the inner rough road sections of the track, but some also driving around the large oval.
The track ops center looked to be getting ready for more tests throughout the day. There were even some more Model Yโs joining in with the testing fun too today!
My son's friend was stopped in traffic yesterday when a Honda plowed into his Tesla at about 60 MPH.
As the Honda bounced back, a second car hit IT at about 60 MPH and drove it into the Tesla again. Those hits shoved the Tesla into the SUV in front.
Three impacts. He walked away without a scratch.
The Tesla might even be repairable ๐คฏ
I've been beating this drum for years and I'll keep beating it. Put your loved ones in a Tesla. Safest cars on the road.
Watch the slow-mo at the end. Count the hits.
I've been using Grok Bot in my Tesla for a little while. The @SpaceXAI gave me early access to help them out with feedback.
I signed into Grok with my account, and it automatically synced with my Grok Bot.
This means that you can literally talk to your car to get work done with your AI agents while the car drives you around on FSD.
Now imagine what that looks like when Optimus Bot is out. You'll be able to talk to your car, your robot, your phone, your computer, and whatever else runs Grok Bot to actively get work done in the physical and digital world.
An early glimpse into the future of physical AI where agents are present everywhere in service of humanity.
What a WILD future we live in!!!!!
Tesla FSD in ๐จ๐ญSwitzerland. From restricted to winding uphill narrow roads, to unpredictable cyclists and cars. Can it handle all of this ?
See you at 18:00 CET! (12:00 PM EST) in my YT channel.
Here's a sneak peek.
