Mike Stonebraker is a Turing award winner famous for his fundamental contributions to databases (e.g. Postgres, C-Store and much more). I interviewed him recently about:
• The story behind Postgres & the hardest technical challenge in building it
• Where he disagreed with Google's technical decisions
• Future problems in databases
• Literature recommendations to learn databases
• Why LLMs score 0% on his text-SQL benchmark
• What if you replaced all state in an OS with a DB

Over the past month, some of you reported Claude Code's quality had slipped. We investigated, and published a post-mortem on the three issues we found.
All are fixed in v2.1.116+ and we’ve reset usage limits for all subscribers.
More than 400 years ago, Galileo Galilei proposed that mass does not affect the speed with which an object falls. Now, using the world's largest vacuum chamber at NASA, we can confirm this fundamental principle of physics. https://t.co/2reVxljez5
Crude Oil adjusted for inflation is quite cheap
An all-time high is very realistic -- that would put Crude above $220 per barrel
Likely by the end of this decade $CL_F
We're launching Claude Community Ambassadors. Lead local meetups, bring builders together, and partner with our team.
Open to any background, anywhere in the world.

Data flow in Postgres for read/writes: Application --> (optional) Pooler --> Individual Client Backend / Connection --> Shared buffers --> OS Cache --> Physical Disk. Reads only access the OS or disk if the data pages aren't in shared buffers.
Isomorphic Labs Revealed the Successor to AlphaFold 3!
Isomorphic Labs officially introduced IsoDDE, a unified drug design engine that fundamentally outperforms AlphaFold 3 in real-world pharmaceutical applications.
IsoDDE doesn't just predict protein structures; it tackles the hardest problem in the field—generalizing to completely novel, unseen biological systems.
It doubles AF3's accuracy on complex protein-ligand structures, beats highly expensive physics models at predicting binding affinities, and can even instantly discover hidden "cryptic pockets" on proteins just by looking at their sequence!
