I survived the bear market and claimed my $FRAME tokens!

I want to say before I post this: it is NOT fud. I f'ing love Opepen. I love Jack and Jalil. I hold an 001. I think the concept of the reveals in this project is absolutely brilliant. And I believe Opepen will be considered a historically significant collection for web3.
This post is about math. Period. And how the average NFT buyer apparently doesn't understand it when fomo'ing into new Opepen reveals.
We've seen the movie over and over again. Jack reveals a new set with a few days to opt-in. People want the new set. So they go buy a bunch of lottery tickets, i.e. unrevealed NFTs. Most of them lose and the price falls back down when everyone dumps the losing tickets. Until it happens all over again weeks later.
Yesterday unrevealed Opepen were 0.37 ETH. Today they're 0.52 ETH. This is entirely because of the new set announcement with Snowfro. Which looks AWESOME by the way.
Now, at the time of posting this, you have a 1/74 chance of winning a reveal with a floor (40) Opepen. Those odds will get worse over the next day as more people continue to opt-in. But let's use 1/74 for now.
The gap in price above is 0.15 ETH. If you multiply that by 74 (the amount of unrevealed you'd need to statistically guarantee a reveal) you get 11.11 ETH. If you assume the price of unrevealed will fall back to 0.37, this is the premium you're paying for playing the lottery vs. selling into the hype.
Do you think a Snowfro Opepen is going to sell for 11.11 ETH? Which is more than the value of a Squiggle?
No. It will not. It'll probably based on history be more like 5 ETH. Maybe a little higher because they truly are awesome.
The math doesn't work out. You'd be much better off selling your unrevealed at the higher price and using the ETH to buy a Snowpepen off the secondary market.
But people won't do that, because they like gambling :) And we're all just hanging out in the world's largest unregulated degenerate casino lol
Just remember though ... math is your friend.
I can't give much a comparison, but I can give you the breakdown for $VALs:
- No tokens sold to VCs, entire circulating supply will be provided by landowners (5% pre-launch and 30% over 2 years post launch).
- Is the premium currency in the mobile game for web3 players. Benefits include faster loot box openings, paying to level up Valerians, p2p marketplace transactions, merch store purchases and more. Imagine "Gems" for Clash Royale being provided by landowners instead of Supercell, with another difference being these "Gems" would actually have real world value.
- Will be at the heart of all future games
- Companies additional revenue streams, such as our upcoming trading card game and manga, will also provide buying pressure for $VALs
- Web2 players have a creative fiat onramp that won't interfere with iOS or Play Store regulations
Last two points are a bit tricky to explain in a twitter post, but feel free to reach out for a chat!
