@mobcdn The game would had have been successful at launch, but as far as maintaining it properly post launch I’d tend to agree with you. Their history would say they wouldn’t know what to do with the success and they would have made all the wrong decisions.
@algorithm427 It’s always a good time to decide to something different when your game is 80% completed and your left being forced to do two rounds of layoffs and have had no new releases in 6 years.
@BoogieB_Gaming Yes! When I say Arc Raiders I mean a similar game, and success. Last of Us would have been bigger and better. I love Embark, but Naughty Dog are the most talented developers in my book and TLOU was a established IP with a HBO show coming out around the same time.
@okcmagic_ It is Naughty Dog, quality is never a issue, and I know multiple people who worked on the project that say Arc Raiders is very similar to TLOU's MP. It was even going to have a simultaneous PC release so everyone would have tried it.
@blueprintque33 I know people working there at the time. The multiplayer was 80% done as Vinit stated. The team was big enough to finish the Multiplayer and then shift devs over to a single player game. Especially true if they didn't keep pushing remasters out that delayed the MP.
@blueprintque33 Disagree, Embark is using the money maid on ARC Raiders to fund two new games, as an independent studio. If the multiplayer is a hit, do you think Sony is telling Neil he can't make a single player game? Come on..
It’s funny seeing Marathon players call ARC a dad game when they basically never die and you have to sweat every game on ARC while being non stop third partied.
Both games look cool, play either or both, but don’t make stuff up to make yourself feel better about choosing one.
Four things ARC Raiders should learn from Marathon.
1. Lower the player counts on the map, there is too much third partying.
2. Free loadouts should only late join, real loadouts should only join fresh raids.
3. Remove ABMM. Everyone plays vs everyone.
4. Create a extremely grindy long term progression system that isn't effected by expeditions. Players need purpose. @EmbarkStudios@ARCRaidersGame
