I am over 24 hours into Omachy, and usually by this point I am thinking "Yeah this isn't going to work", but as I have said before the cycle is broken. This is my daily now, I've now played musical chairs and converted all my drives to native Linux formats from NTFS.

@Presidentlin I have not tried Gemini 3.7 Flash, but I can agree that GPT 5.6 Luna (even on Max) is just dumb. Feels like it simply brute forces things, and makes a lot of mistakes along the max.

@dhh It is not that this is the year of the "Linux Desktop" it is that you have created "The Linux Desktop". I can definitely say using Omachy has been the best Linux desktop experience I have ever had. I have no desire to return to Windows or MacOS. Great work!

So my experience with Linux Desktop for like the past 10+ years has pretty much been this cycle:

1) I install Linux with excitement
2) It works (sorta)
3) Shit goes terribly wrong
4) I go back to Windows

Omachy has broken this cycle.

You truly realize just how much Windows was holding you back when using Omachy Linux. Dear god, the speed is incredible.

Yeah I can do a screen recording and some screenshots at some point soon. Its just so refreshing, its like Linux, but everything just "works", feels good, and its very smooth. Feels like my system got 50% faster just using this OS. Its got built in support around agents so if you have any issues the agents can pretty much figure it out without any issues. I had one initial issue due to my laptop's switchable graphics, but it was resolved in under a few minutes. Rebooting is literally less than a minute, its crazy. I've got Codex and Grok on it right now running and it just feels very good. You really don't need a mouse at all, everything has a key bind, literally everything. Hyperland interface by default feels good too.

Omachy installed and so far this is the most impressive and best "feeling" Linux distro I've ever used. It is very fast, everything just "works". This really is the year of the Linux desktop. Great work @dhh and also I don't know if this is 100% because of you @0xSero but the native Agent integration is pretty great. I hooked up Grok and fixed my first issue (Optimus laptop) and now scrolling and video consumption is buttery smooth.

Not sure that I ever return to Windows is how I am feeling.

Well, today is the day. I can't do Windows anymore. Windows has not held up well to the age of AI. Even at 32gigs of RAM, and a decent CPU/GPU the OS is constantly in a state of memory exhaustion, and half the time its processes that I can contribute to the OS and Windows Defender. Windows Defender fights Codex constantly. I'll have 30% CPU usage allocated to Defender hammering anything Codex does.

The time is now for Omarchy.

I am sure there will be bumps, but anything is better than the potato my computer has become on Windows.

I’ve completed college (a couple times) and served America in multiple capacities. My current laptop is aging out and a new one would help me accelerate trying to automate what I can as disabilities seem to slowly take me. Having disabilities that limit you is not great, but we are in the AI age so I try to use AI to make my life easier.
