I’d like to address a concern.
As a recruiter, I get messages daily from people who need jobs. And please hear me, that in itself is not a bad thing. You’re allowed to want better. You’re allowed to be tired. You’re allowed to need income.
But desperation? Desperation is expensive.
And unfortunately, some outsourcing firms and “agents” are feeding from it.
I have seen candidates asked to:
– Pay “processing fees” before interviews – Surrender their first salary as “commission” – Share sensitive documents without formal offers – Accept unclear contracts just to “secure the role”
Let me say this clearly: needing a job is not weakness. Vulnerability is not foolishness. But when desperation replaces discernment, it creates room for exploitation.
There are outsourcing firms doing legitimate work, yes. But there are also middlemen whose business model thrives on urgency and panic. They know when someone sounds distressed. They know when someone says, “I’ll do anything.” And they capitalize on it.
It is not fair.
You should not have to pay to work. You should not have to beg to be considered. You should not have to surrender your entire first salary or a certain percentage to “secure” employment.
If an organization requires your salary as a condition for giving you a job, pause. Real employers pay you, you don’t pay them.
Jobseekers, please poach yourselves confidently. Market your skills. Introduce yourself boldly. Send that cold message. Follow up respectfully. But remove the tone of pleading.
Confidence attracts respect. Begging attracts predators.
When you reach out to recruiters:
– Be clear about your value. – Be specific about the roles you’re targeting. – Keep it professional. – Don’t overexplain your struggles to strangers online.
Your situation may be urgent, but urgency should not erase your dignity.
And to outsourcing firms that operate ethically this is not about you. But to those who profit off fear and vulnerability, understand this: people are not transactions.
Jobseekers, protect yourselves.
No legitimate process should require you to: – Pay for placement – Hand over your first salary – Sign vague agreements without clarity – Rush decisions without documentation
Your career is too important to trade for panic.
Be audacious, yes. Be proactive, yes. But never beg for what your competence can command.
There is a difference between hunger and helplessness.
Stay hungry. Never become helpless.
With Love,
Your Dearest HR 💙
An unclear CV creates silent stress. You keep thinking about what to say. You rehearse answers in your head. You avoid conversations about work.
A clear CV removes that mental noise.
You've already done the thinking once. That alone changes how you show up.
