Mapping with @swatmaps#swatbox in full swing now. Common objection to VR - We're flat so minimal variability. Only 9 ft elevation range in this SW MB field, but high EC range at 177ms/m! Big influence from water/salts here. Low + High EC in depressions-do not use EC on its own!
Farmers are weird. You could show them a way to save/make tens of thousands of dollars more a year, but they would not do it if it means that have to change more than 10-15% of their daily practices.
Same thing could be said elsewhere...
ALL humans like the status quo too much.
This is why I’m such a fan of SWAT maps and VR, as it’s a major tool in helping you make better agronomic decisions about fertilizers (and pesticides!), so you’re not wasting $ on the field.
Visual representation of a zone 9&10 sample (5) vs a zone 1&2 sample (1)
Higher clay % and moisture in 5, likely will see higher residual nutrients and greater weed densities
Higher sand % and less moisture in 1, likely to see lower residual nutrients, and leaching
Last night (Thurs Aug 31st) one of our trucks was stolen from our yard south of Niverville. It is a white 2012 F-350 crew cab with an 8 ft box, headache rack, and Prairie Sky decals on both sides of the truck.
If you see it please call 911 immediately, it’s been reported stolen.
Today is my final day at Nutrien Ag in Glenboro, it’s been a good run this past year
First up is a week of holidays (aka moving)
After August 16th you can find me down in Melita at A1 Agronomy. I’ll miss Glenboro, but am really looking forward to the next step in my career!
taking a mini vacation and going to Alberta is fun and all until you come back to MB and it’s -30 in the mornings and gas is $0.30 more expensive #iwannagoback
