Effective October 1, 2026, the Tanzanian Ministry of Finance requires all foreign visitors entering Mainland Tanzania via air, land, or sea to possess a local insurance policy issued by the state-owned National Insurance Corporation (NIC)
A vital clarification must be made for travelers preparing to experience the wonders of East Africa: the link https://t.co/wzWoDI66bc is exclusively for purchasing Tanzania's new mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance. It cannot be used to apply for a Tanzanian visa
to remote parks is genuinely cheap insurance against a catastrophic bill. If you already have solid travel insurance, check whether it meets the local minimums β you may not need to double up. If you don't, this is a nudge in the right direction. π¦βοΈ
Kenya & Tanzania's new travel insurance rules β worth it?
Kenya now requires all foreign visitors to carry travel health insurance with at least $50,000 in coverage (medical, evacuation, repatriation, even mental health care).
Tanzania followed with its own mandate: a $44 policy
valid for up to 92 days, covering emergency medical treatment, evacuation, repatriation and lost luggage β though EAC and SADC citizens, including Kenyans, are exempt.
My take: annoying as another line item before a safari, but $44 ish for evacuation and medical cover on a trip

Just saw this β eDreams ODIGEO pulled booking data for departures after Jan 1, 2026 and Bangkok comes out on top, ahead of Paris (#2) and Rio (#3). Curious if anyone here has noticed flight prices to BKK creeping up because of this, or if it's still a good time to book.
