Valarr Targaryen might be one of the most underrated Targaryens in the story.

The show barely gives him enough screen time to register, yet the difference between him and Aerion says a lot.

Aerion constantly needs to prove he’s powerful. Valarr seems to have no such insecurity. He’s the Crown Prince’s heir, a formidable warrior, and carries himself like someone who already knows exactly where he stands.

And then there’s the irony of Baelor dying in Valarr’s armor leading to one of the coldest lines in Dunk & Egg:
“Many sons die in their father’s armor, but how many fathers die in their son’s?”

But how much of Valarr’s reputation is actually earned?

We barely see him fight, yet fans talk about him like he was one of the great warriors of his generation.

Was Valarr really that formidable, or has the lack of information about him made fans mythologize him?
