@CaptainSparklez I got diagnosed with cancer in March and I have 2 insurances. Original bill is $500k+ but the primary insurance is still trying to fight it . My secondary insurance only covered the deductible. I have to cough up $3k while having no income. Insurance still tries to deny my chemo
Many people have this unrealistic expectation that once you become disabled, you’ll automatically be supported by government, friends, family, and neighbors. Sadly, once you become disabled, it’s common most will abandon you. If you have a lot of social support, you’re lucky.
Medical debt doesn’t tell you if someone is financially irresponsible. It tells you they got sick.
Trump’s decision to re-add it to credit reports will punish millions of Americans for having cancer, caring for a sick kid, or going to the ER.
It's so sad that it's considered radical to say that even disabled people who are unable to work should still have nice things. A coffee every once in a while, a nice dinner, a fun trip. Just because you're unable to contribute to capitalism doesn't mean you should suffer.
