Reports of inhumane conditions at Adelanto, including those of people being held in solitary confinement simply for speaking out, are deeply disturbing.
We need swift action to address the dangers and deficiencies at this facility and stand with those fighting for access to clean water, food & medical care.
The lack of care has led to dire, if not fatal, outcomes. That cannot be tolerated.
Murit is back.
After weeks away roaming the wild, Murit walked up to our Voi Reintegration Unit at first light, and he didn’t come alone. Mbegu, Tagwa and Godoma tagged along for the journey too.
Our once-tiny bull was found by herders at the bottom of a well. In the weeks that followed, he fought an infection from the well water he drank, and we weren’t sure he’d make it. But eventually he rounded the corner, helped by the friendships he formed with fellow orphans like Mbegu.
Now these friendships continue in the wild.
🚨 ANOTHER NYC CARRIAGE HORSE IS
DEAD 🚨
This heartbreaking footage was taken in Central Park and shows Deniz, a 16-year-old carriage horse, taking his final breaths after collapsing while pulling passengers.
Join us Wednesday, June 10 at 12 PM on the steps of City Hall for a major rally reintroducing Ryder's Law and demanding that the New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani advance and pass Ryder's Law to end this horrific suffering once and for all. Tonight's tragic and preventable death is a devastating reminder that this legislation cannot wait.
Horrified New Yorkers watched as Deniz struggled in agony before dying in front of a crowd of shocked and heartbroken witnesses. Some were crying and hugging one another as they watched.
No horse should suffer and die this way in the middle of New York City.
Deniz's death underscores the urgent need to pass Ryder's Law before another horse is killed or more people are injured.

There are no more excuses.
There is no more time to wait.
DENIZ SHOULD BE THE LAST!!

@TheDemCoalition Evolution clearly is a piecemeal process, currently leaving more enlightened people at the mercy of backward, intellectually deficient bigots.
That's a great observation.
The right's screaming outrage about DEI is not about qualifications, it's really all about racism
And this is proof positive right here.

After tourists reported him with a snare around his neck, it took two days of aerial patrols to find this snared giraffe. But we didn’t give up.
As soon as he was located, our helicopter flew the SWT/KWS Southern Vet Unit to the scene. Dr Lawi darted the giraffe from the air, then ground teams took over and roped him down for treatment.
Even by giraffe standards, this was a particularly daunting operation - this giraffe was notably large and pumping with adrenaline. Watch to see why they are already among the most challenging creatures to treat, and see how donations funded this lifesaving operation.

@stae_elephants Indonesia shows strength and courage in banning the torturous practice of elephant rides! @PMOIndia , @GovtofPakistan , @Thailand -- do you have the strength and courage to ban elephant rides?
@rimuller2@OccupyDemocrats You may be conflating price increases with inflation rates, which peaked (per Ways & Means Committee data) at 9.1% in 2022. COVID-related supply-chain bottlenecks and the post-COVID stimulus triggered the increase, ameliorated when the Fed raised interest. Thanks for posting.
