What a wonderful first week in Year 1! It’s been tricky choosing our Special Mentions this week as all the children have settled in beautifully & are already making their teachers proud! This week’s special mentions are Alisha, Bella & Kyan - well done! #Y1Oaky
Thank you so much for all your gifts, cards, kind words & hugs! It has been an absolute privilege to teach you children - each one unique & special! I have loved watching them grow & flourish, laugh & joke, dance & sing - they are ALL FABULOUS!! Take Care - Miss G xx
Well that was exhausting but absolutely fantastic! We loved Chester Zoo! You should be so proud of your children as we got lots of compliments about their good manners & behaviour! We also rescued 6 fruit bats who were trying to escape the bat cave 🦇 🦒🦁🐒 #ChesterZoo
Chester Zoo have been in touch, they needed our help! They sent a very smelly package and asked us what animals have made this mess! Was it a carnivore, a herbivore or an omnivore? 🐻🪱🦁🐍 #oakyscience
This week’s 1G Acorns Special Mention is Toby! Toby has been in his element this week researching the sea creatures in the deep ocean producing a fantastic piece of writing about Stanley & his journey through its different zones! It completely blew me away! #OakyEnglish 🦈🐡🐙🦑
1G Acorns Golden Writers of the Week are Charlie and Meadow! They have used some fantastic descriptive vocabulary in their work about the sea creatures Stanley saw as he sank deeper and deeper into the Ocean 🌊🦑🦈🐡🐙🐋 Well done Meadow & Charlie ⭐️👏⭐️
We continue our journey back in time to the Victorian Era and seaside holidays! This week we have talked about clothing and food … did you know that even in the Victorian age there were ice cream carts?! #Oakyhistory
We have been researching the different zones of the Ocean as part of our English writing … the children had to dive into the depths of the ocean to see what sea creatures Stanley may come across as he sunk down down down … #OakyEnglish#OakyComputing
Year 1 have been learning about ‘Victorian Seaside Holidays’. We have looked at the very first seaside holidays, the transport used to get to the seaside towns as well as the attractions such as ‘Punch & Judy’, donkey rides & how they used Victorian bathing machines #OakyHistory
This week our finger puppet designs have come to life! We have added our felt creatures onto the finger sleeve. Look at some of our creations🐙🐠🦀 #oakyDT
We’ve been reading ‘Someone Swallowed Stanley’ this week! Poor Stanley is a plastic bag who has been dumped in the ocean! We have designed posters to encourage people to protect our animals by throwing their rubbish in the bin, recycling and reusing plastic! 🐟🐬🦀
