Everyone complaining about the Kimichi stuff.
Have you considered that you are just old and that kind of content, whether you like it or not, is what resonates with super young people.
I strongly believe trading is easiest when you're in a position of strength. One of the single greatest benefits of my entire trading career has been that I've always had a job & never used any trading income, I've always lived within the means of my job
There's never been a trade I "needed" to win to make rent or hit drinks with the boys or to buy the gf something nice. I could live off of my portfolio but choose not to because I don't think I could effectively manage the emotions of being reliant on my portfolio. If I somehow zero my port, at least my day to day life will not change
There are absolutely people who thrive on being all-in. I admire and respect tf out of you lunatics who chose to do so, I simply do not have that dog in me. I'm comfortable with my limits in that regard
The other benefit of having a job is that it keeps you in-touch with real people and the real world. Maybe since I now work for a crypto media company, I'm not the most in-touch guy on the planet. But I spend a lot of my day talking to young hungry clippers who haven't "made it" yet, I get to work with a bunch of creatives across many disciplines for awesome side projects we're working on, I have to make runs to FedEx to get stuff printed for the business, etc... Long story short, I interface with the real world, with real people, with real constraints that need to show up to work and answer to a higher power (their boss). That gives constant perspective I find immeasurably valuable
A quick little aside but I find tenured college professors and generally post-economic people who don't work some of the most insufferable people to spend time with. You remove so much of the human condition, but even worse you remove so much perspective on what people have to go through to get by. I find the detachment sustains outdated world views that are terrible for trading, but even worse - terrible for dinner conversation
Probably my number one trading advice is to actually get the best job you can, work hard, and grow your income. Become a cool person with skills outside of just trading, I promise they'll translate and you'll be trading from a position of strength
I remember when I was younger I felt as if I had to prove everyone wrong all the time. I’ve learned along the way that that’s never possible. There’s just people in the world no matter what you do or who you beat that never going to give you credit and I’m fine with that now.
