Today, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐥, founder of the Orange House Project, passed away after injuries sustained when an Israeli strike hit her home in Mansouri.

She refused to leave the place she loved, staying through two wars just meters from the beach and the sea turtles she spent her life protecting.

For more than two decades, she dedicated herself to preserving that coastline, turning her home into a sanctuary and protecting a fragile ecosystem she called her life’s work.

أبٌ يأخذ ولديه إلى الجامعة كي لا يضيعا امتحاناتهما. فتاة تدرس البيولوجيا وتحلم بمستقبلها. شاب يدرس الهندسة. عائلة تؤمن أن العلم ما زال الطريق الوحيد للخلاص في هذا البلد. خرجوا من القليعة إلى بيروت رغم الخوف، رغم الحرب، رغم القلق، لأننا في لبنان تربّينا على أن خسارة سنة دراسية قد تغيّر مصيراً كاملاً. عادوا إلى البيت … لكنهم لم يصلوا.
الدكتور جيمس كرم، وابنته ثيودوسيا، وابنه طوني، هم صورة عن آلاف العائلات اللبنانية التي تعيش كل يوم بين نارين: الخوف على حياتها والخوف على مستقبل أولادها. وما يزيد الوجع أن الطلاب كانوا قد حذّروا. الأساتذة ناقشوا. الناس خافت. لكن أحداً لم يسمع بما يكفي.
في أي بلد طبيعي، لا يُجبر الطلاب على الاختيار بين الامتحان والموت. في أي بلد طبيعي، لا يصبح الوصول إلى الجامعة رحلة قد تنتهي بجنازة. وفي السيارة التي احترقت، يقول من شاهدوا المشهد إن ما بقي كان الإنجيل وصورة السيدة العذراء. وكأن ّهذا البلد، رغم كل الرماد، ما زال يتمسّك بالإيمان … أو كأنّ السماء تحاول أن تذكّرنا بأن الإنسانية لم تمت بالكامل بعد.
رحم الله جيمس وثيودوسيا وطوني كرم. ورحم هذا الوطن الذي يتآكل فيه الإنسان يوماً بعد يوم.

Israel is wiping out the historic monastery of the Salvatorian Sisters in Yaroun, South Lebanon — together with the school it housed.

Not military sites.

A monastery where nuns prayed.

A school where children learned.

🇮🇱🇱🇧 Israel demolished a monastery and a nuns' school in the Lebanese village of Yaroun. Soldiers were filmed manually laying explosives inside religious buildings.

At least 9 religious sites gone across the border villages. Churches. Mosques. Roman-era shrines on UNESCO's protected list.

Israel's own defense minister called it the "Rafah model."
