It means listening.

โSometimes we skipped meals because we had nothing to give our children.โ โ Fadumo Adan Issack
For Fadumo Adan Issack, a 38-year-old mother of six, life changed completely because of the prolonged drought in Somalia.
Originally from Sakow, nearly 160km from Diinsor, Fadumo and her family depended on farming and livestock for survival. They cultivated maize, beans, and sorghum and owned six cows that supported their daily life.
But after four consecutive seasons without rain, everything was lost.
โOur cows died because there was no water and no pasture. We could no longer grow crops, and life became impossible,โ Fadumo recalls.
Unable to feed their children, Fadumo and her husband made the painful decision to leave their home in search of survival. With no transport available, the family walked for days under the scorching sun, carrying their children on foot until they reached Soko Yarey IDP Camp in Diinsor.
For the past two years, the camp has become their home.
Through the #WFP Relief Programme, Fadumo was among the vulnerable families supported with monthly cash assistance of $55 for four months. The support helped her buy food, water, pay debts, and keep her children in school.
โWater was very difficult to access. We walked long distances, and one jerrycan cost $0.25,โ she says.
Today, Fadumo says life has started to improve.
โNow my children can eat three meals a day without skipping meals. Thanks for the support, because it came when we needed it most. Without it, I donโt know what our lives would look like.โ
Through timely humanitarian assistance, vulnerable families like Fadumoโs are regaining hope and dignity amidst the ongoing drought crisis.
We thank @WFPSomalia for their continued support in assisting vulnerable communities affected by drought.

It was an honor and privilege to meet H.E. Ambassador @MinisterHashi at #Somalia#Ambassador to the United Kingdom, during my recent visit to London for a conference.
Our discussion focused on the humanitarian situation in Somalia and the significant reduction in international aid. We emphasized the importance of mobilizing the Somali diaspora particularly those in the UK to support communities back home during this critical time. We also explored ways to raise awareness on development and durable solutions that can help strengthen Somaliaโs long-term recovery.
I sincerely appreciate the Ambassadorโs warm welcome and valuable insights!๐๐ป
@gredosom recently held a two-day training on Anti-Corruption, Anti-Fraud, and Integrity for staff in Baidoa.
The sessions strengthened understanding of ethics, integrity, and accountability, reinforced GREDOโs Code of Conduct and Anti-Fraud policies, and promoted a culture of transparency. Staff are now better equipped to identify and report irregularities, ensuring integrity across all operations.
