I'm getting a Costco membership even though I don't need one. My friend had Stage 4 cancer. Costco kept her employed for 2 years after her diagnosis manageable shifts, just so she'd keep her health benefits, which were excellent. She passed away recently. Costco is now covering a full year of COBRA premiums for her 3 sons.
Costco retained DEI under pressure in 2025 with 98% of shareholders backing them, and offers starting wages at $20/hr. Pulling all Callaway? Just icing on the cake.
Unfortunately their pivot to doing quiet ethnic cleansing instead of having bozo agents murder people in the streets has worked and there has been basically zero coverage lately of any of this and all those whose lives are being ruined
I don't know. Maybe men should hold off on offering opinions on the Lindsey Clancy case until we've gone at least a few months without a news story of yet another man annihilating his family.
Courtroom sketch of Dolly Parton at trial for alleged plagiarism of “9 to 5” by Mona Shafer Edwards.
“She told Edwards she loved her drawings in the bathroom—and even wrote her a check to purchase one before heading into the stall.”
Himalayan glaciers are melting at an alarming rate due to climate change. If they disappeared entirely, the result would be a profound water, food, and security crisis affecting 2 billion people. The fallout would happen in two distinct phases:
Phase 1: The Melt
Before the ice vanishes, rapid melting will cause massive volatility. We will see frequent glacial lake outbursts flooding downstream towns, widespread landslides destroying key infrastructure, and heavy silt crippling vital hydropower dams.
Phase 2: The Aftermath
Once the glaciers are gone, the regional water tower runs dry. Major rivers will lose up to two-thirds of their dry-season flow, triggering immediate drinking water shortages, a collapse in agricultural yields, and widespread power grid failures.
This will inevitably force mass migrations and escalate geopolitical tensions over remaining water rights.
Ultimately, the Himalayas are a global life-support system.
Combating climate change to preserve them is a matter of international security.
the news feels like 2016 all over again when we lost david bowie, gene wilder, alan rickman, prince and carrie fisher throughout the year, seriously what is going on
These flash flood clips are absolutely terrifying because there’s no outrunning that, human life is extremely fragile and natural disasters always humble me. May all of their souls rest peacefully.
My last conversation with Tim Curry was about life and love and laughter. The grim physical state he found himself in has now ended, a blessing. Our blessing was that we had Tim Curry in our lives. RIP, my friend.
I think what makes her death hit even worse is that we are living in a time of profound evil and she was such a genuinely good person, a literal angel. You don't even see that in your day to day anymore.
Google Books is becoming a desert. Its regress is real: the knowledge we were assured was both safely stored and freely available, which led libraries and schools to get rid of their books, has retreated into the shadows. The internet of 2026 knows less than the internet of 2010.
