🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in South Carolina after a POLICE CHIEF threatened to get a WARRANT, ARREST, and send the U.S. MARSHALS after a man...
...because he left a FACEBOOK COMMENT critizing Flock cameras.
Yes, a man cussed at the police department's license plate cameras online, and the CHIEF OF POLICE told him FEDERAL MARSHALS were coming to GRAB HIM!!!
The man's name is Christian McClellan, he lives in Ridge Spring, South Carolina.
Back in August, somebody cut down about 14 surveillance cameras around town.
The Ridge Spring Police Department posted about it on Facebook.
Christian commented. Something along the lines of "F*** you and your Flock cameras."
About a week later, his phone lit up.
A direct message from the account "Ridge Spring Police Department."
It told him it is unlawful to use profanity electronically and that:
"I will be obtaining a warrant for you for unlawful communications, see you soon...I will send the US Marshals to pick you up on this warrant. Have a wonderful day."
Christian thought it was a fake account.
Except it actually wasn't...
According to the town's own mayor, Chief of Police Terry Logan was the one behind the keyboard.
"Him saying that is crazy," Christian said. "But then to say that you're going to have the U.S. Marshals come and pick me up, that's even crazier."
So what did Christian do?
He messaged back: "go ahead, send them!!!!"
Nothing happened, the Marshalls, of course, never came.
Shockingly, NOTHING AT ALL has happened to Chief of Police Terry Logan, despite threatening a law abiding citizen from a government social media account for free speech.
THIS IS INSANE!!!!!
The time to challenge Republicans to be better is the primaries.
The time to vote for the lesser of two evils is the general election.
The time to be upset about bad Republican candidates was 8 months ago.
Right now, we need unity in stopping the left.
LPNH had the largest Libertarian state convention in all of America.
LPNH has the greatest Libertarian membership of any state in the country.
(first is absolute, second is per capita)
Not at all.
The options people have are standing by the values but not being effective, or being effective while not standing by the values.
Some people choose the person who sticks to the values because that is more important to them. Some people just choose whoever is effective, regardless of what they do.
Ideally, people would have options that uphold the values and are effective, but we don't have that option at the congressional level. It's also effectively impossible to be effective when you're the only one, or one of very few, trying to uphold the values.
@Pointer_Chaser@LPNH Because the bare minimum of stating the values and trying to uphold them, whether successful or not, is a step up from the typical practice of stating the values and then actively voting against them.
🚨#BREAKING: An employee for Flock told a reporter that if he wants privacy, he can "opt out of society."
So that reporter filmed a Flock worker installing a Flock cam on a public road next to his house...
...so Flock called 3 POLICE OFFICERS to pull over THE REPORTER for following them
Yep, you read that right... the surveillance camera company called the cops because someone was surveilling them install surveillance.
The reporter's name is Brendan Keefe.
He's a national investigative reporter who has been digging into Flock and police abuse of its surveillance network since January.
Flock happened to be upgrading a camera about a mile from Keefe's own house, so he parked at a distance, put out his press placard, put on a yellow vest, and pulled out a news camera.
The Flock installer saw him, packed up his ladder, jumped in his vehicle, and took off.
Keefe followed several cars back to document the next installation.
The Flock employee picked up the phone and called 911.
"I work with Flock Safety, and I'm getting followed, harassed pretty much, taking videos and pictures."
Next thing Brenden sees are THREE Georgia police cars with their lights on behind him.
"The reason why I'm stopping you is because there is a vehicle that says that you have been following them."
He was released with no charges.
Because he did nothing wrong.
Filming in public is legal in all 50 states.
Meeting tomorrow at 7 PM in Powers 216!
We’re covering the Oconee County Flock ban, Flock on Clemson’s campus, our Wall Street Journal mention, next week’s Deflock SC speaker, and more.
Come hang out and get involved!
Punishment after the fact is not good enough. It doesn't undo the harm. These abuses have to be prevented before they happen. If departments can't guarantee that, and not a single one of them can, they don't need to be using the technology.
"he improperly used the Flock automated license plate reader system to search for his ex-wife’s vehicle’s tag numerous times over the course of several months last year."

One photo at an intersection is one thing.
Hundreds of cameras feeding one searchable database is another. That builds a pattern of your life: where you work, worship, and visit.
That's a search. Get a warrant.
The 2nd Amendment says "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." Drones, EMPs, and rocket launchers fall under "Arms" just fine. If Jake Paul meant guns aren't sufficient, he's correct.
All arms control is infringement.
I’m sorry what?!
