Franco Colapinto says he understands Lando Norris’s Baku comments were made in the heat of the moment, but believes the online reaction highlights the need for drivers to be careful with what they say:
ppl the last 2 years: “lando is too soft no champion mentality no backbone no aggression
ppl now for some reason: lando is too mean of a champion good thing we have nice non confrontational champions like max
the fact that lando has had to deal with this insane amount of hate on his own while mclaren have said absolutely nothing is so disappointing. alpine issued a statement the next day but his own team hasn't said a word while he's been left to deal with it all
Let’s see if @fia will say anything now that the Argentinian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship is encouraging harassment toward Lando online.
This is actually a disgusting use of his official account, yet we still have people defending this abuse.
btw, lando saying that a driver who causes a collision like this should face a ban didn't come out of nowhere. the rules governing races do include a clause stating that a 'driver causing a collision with apparent deliberate or reckless intent gets a dsq or race ban'.
he gave the interview straight after getting out of the car and said he hadn't reviewed the footage yet. he was speaking coming off the situation he found himself in, with two cars crashing into him, his limited upgraded parts most likely gone in the first race. he said the fia needs to be more strict for such incidents in regards to what had just happened, without knowing the full details of the driver involved or the intent behind it. he never mentioned a driver's name once in every single one of his interviews 👍
